Re: OoX
The only hard thing I found about the games is the damn dancing mini-games. In OOS, you encounter it faster.

Re: OoX
I used to find them pretty good, decent games etc.
It was then that I gained a true critical vision on games. So playing them again after that, starting with Seasons, then moving onto Ages. Seasons was pretty boring, to be honest. The overworld was pretty charming, but nothing amazing. Subrosia was very well done, though. The dungeons were pretty simple, but bearable. The thing that really held it together, though, was the action. The game had really good action, especially with mini-bosses and bosses. Onox, especially, was really, really good. So yeah, lacking, but charming and with fantastic action. Pretty good title I'd say. Some say that, while Seasons focused on action, Ages dealt with puzzles. Including the people who made the games. And it's true, Ages does have some puzzles, just...not very good ones. Sure, the colour puzzles were ok, but when it comes to stuff like the cross-roads that only went one way, and then spun around, all it really came to was just walking around a bit more until the gears turned the right way. Most of the puzzles were just artificial lengtheners, no more. Now to talk about the other stuff. The overworld was much worse, very boring for the most part and the areas just didn't really stick out nearly as much as in Seasons. There were very few areas where I truly felt were unique places, unlike Seasons, which had a bunch of very distinctive areas. The overworld here was just...boring. And to the dungeons again! To be honest, they felt like they had the same principles as the ones in Seasons, only drawn out, convoluted and much more tedius. The lack of any seriously good bosses, or any proper action in general, not even Veran posed any challenge of interest. All in all, Ages is definitely my least favourite game in the series, it just has no enjoyable aspects to it, whatsoever. I hope this helped : ) |

I'm pretty much playing the game only to understand the Timeline better |

Re: OoX
Well, I assure you, the only things in those games that really help with the timeline is the fact that at the end Ganon, or at least a mindless copy of him, is brought back to life by Twinrova (hinting at placement in the child timeline, I'd say) in a pretty failed ceremony and then was killed by Link.
Fin~~ But still, I do recommend playing them, a lot of people seem to disagree with me about them, especially regarding Ages... |

Re: OoX
Oh. lol. I did that for LA (I ended up buying it) but playing with computer controls never felt right. I need another gamepad.

Re: OoX
Agreed with what True Sorrow said. I'm surprised to realize that OoS has only 2 mini-games, OoA has plenty more. You have more control with time travel that eventually allows you to control it anywhere than with seasons in OoS that's always limited to a tree stump. While OoA's puzzles are extremely boring, they really did put me to the test and solving them is a great feeling of accomplishment more than OoS's hack and slash. What I like about OoS is it having some references of the first Zelda game. Such as the similar-looking entrance of the first level, the same first boss, and 'pay for door/secret to everybody' entrances lurking in the overworld.

Re: OoX
Playing to understand the "timeline" is the stupidest reason I've ever heard. Regardless though, I'm glad ton hear you're trying one of the best Zelda games. I'm currently doing a 3-heart run on Seasons.
