I've played all other zelda games and enjoy other handheld games, but I am wondering for those who have Phantom Hourglass, and other DS games if it is worth it to get a DS just for PH and a handful of other games, or should I just stick to my trusty Wii?
Any input on other great games on DS would be appreciated as well.
The DS has a whole bunch of good games, Phantom Hourglass should be far from the only reason to get it. I personally find the likes of Elite Beat Agents, New Super Mario Bros and Mario Kart DS to be quite satisfying for the handheld, and I also play games like Phoenix Wright and Metroid Prime Hunters.
Pokemon Platinum, New Super Mario Bros, Advance Wars Days of Ruin, Mario Kart DS, Mario and Luigi 3 (out soon, I hope), Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon, Apollo Justice Ace Attorney, and Kirby Superstar Ultra.
I'd definitely say to get a DS. Not necessarily for PH(it's a good DS game but not the best of course imo), but there's definitely a lot of great game for it: New Super Mario Bros., Mario Kart, Nintendogs, Mario 64, Advance Wars, Castlevania, you get the point.
If you have any GBA games, then I'd say yes. If not then it's worth waiting for the price to come down. I always avoid first generation products, you can pay less for the better version later. Plus the DSi colors will change and you'll get more of a choice then.
So, looks like I'll be the only person to say "not really". If it were 100% backwards compatible I'd be saying otherwise.
The Nintendo DS is absolutely worth getting, but not just for Phantom Hourglass ( though it is a DS must-have ).
I could recommend dozens of other games;
like adventure? Super Mario 64 DS. Like racing? Mario Kart DS. Like puzzles? Professor Layton and the Curious Village. Like RPGs? Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time. There are MANY more, but those are some that are on my mind right now.
The ds is worth the price? If you are already wanting a handful of games from the system then it's worth the purchase. When CLub nintendo asked me what I thought Phantom Hourglass was worth I said $34 so, no it's not worth the retail price of $34.99.
