Did ST just made a Christian reference?

Apparently someone got a hold of the Japanese name of Spirit Tracks.

I know this thread is spammish, but I did a total WTF when I saw this. Now I know that Spirit Tracks has been mentoned to be a tentative title, but that may only apply to the American title, maybe.

...Thoughts?...

Are there christians on the handheld Zelda team?

Holy Spirit doesn't always refer to Christianity. Though it is odd it's talking about one spirit, instead of multiple spirits.

If it was multiple, it could be linked to the 3 Goddesses.

I know, but hearing 'Holy Spirit' just... screams it.

As far as I know, there is no Christian people in the dev team. Christianity in Japan is viewed as a symbol and not as a religion...

So then I doubt its a christian thing.

However...

The Cross and Bible (Called Book of Magic in America) have appeared in LoZ/AoL. Then you have that artwork of Link praying in front of the Crucifix, so I dunno...

So if it did make a Christian reference, what's the big deal?
We know it's a tentative title anyways, and for all you know the translation is wrong.

Of course it's not a big deal. But the most we get out of ST discussion are complaints by how 'dumb' the train or Link's conductor suit is. I thought this would be a nice change of discussion.

And could be wrong, wouldn't surprise me. But I can't confirm for myself, so.

I don't think anyone's going to make a jump and say Nintendo's new world-domination plan is to convert everyone to Christianity.
Sometimes video games have these references, just as tv shows, songs, movies, and books have them.

Dude, it's just something to talk about for a short moment if anything. If you had properly read the first post, you would know that I did acknowledge that it was spammy.

I remember hearing that Asian cultures express the same fascination with western religions that we do with eastern religions, so it wouldn't surprise me if this is a reference.

It's like ALttP, it's original name was Triforce of the Gods, right?

Lotsa stuff in LoZ has to do with Christianity. You could even see the Goddesses as a Holy Trinity, in a way.

They did actually, and made the title to reflect on their 'supposed timeline', at the time.

Then I bet that's why the went with Spirit Tracks here. That, and to continue the trend of naming the games after a person, or object in the game.

Or it could be because ST is a bit more simpler. But yes, that does make sense.
