Re: Best Handheld Zelda
Phantom Hourglass. I bought OoX and LA for gameboy, but I never bothered to complete them. I can only play old hand held games on PC emulators, otherwise I can't stand them.

Re: Best Handheld Zelda
FS: It's a cool game that you get to play with friends. Hard bosses, 4 LINK'S! 4 player handheld action. I also enjoyed fighting Vaati and rescuing Zelda. FS is cool and enjoyable and anyone who got the chance to play would love it.

Re: Best Handheld Zelda
I agree, MC was fun.
I haven't played PH, but it does look cool. Don't hate me for this, but for no apparent reason I loved playing FS on the GBA. IT WAS AMAZING! I had a lot of fun with that game. Unfortunately, I lost the save data =( So yeah, FS.

Re: Best Handheld Zelda
Its a Tie between Misnish and Four Swords But id have to go with Minish cap... The Four Swords Concept was good and the gameplay was solid but still i Like the Whole Shrinking Thing Better...

Re: Best Handheld Zelda
My favorite handheld Zelda game is Oracle of Ages.
It had some of the most creative dungeons in a Zelda game. It had a good plot, and Veran is an interesting villain. It was also a very challenging game.

Re: Best Handheld Zelda
Link's Awakening. There is no contest. Hell, it's actually my second favourite game in the series, it's just so well done. Especially the last three dungeons, those were just amazing beyond comprehension. Some of the best dungeons in the entire series.
Second would be Minish Cap, it was really good. The story was pleasantly surprising, and I love how Capcom ruined the whole Four Sword arc just for the hell of it (at least I can't imagine them doing that on accident) The Oracles are a fun case. To most, it's just action vs. puzzles, but to me the puzzles felt really awful and the dungeons were excessively convoluted. I never felt like I was navigating them, but rather that I was just walking around, trying to find the right way to go. They were just really badly designed, and to top it all of both the mini-bosses and bosses were the worst in the entire series. So Ages is...a horrible game. Seasons, however, is pretty much the same, but with more managable dungeons (and usually pretty good) and GREAT mini-bosses and bosses. Some of the best action in the series, right after AoL! So yeah. |

Re: Best Handheld Zelda
Link's Awakening(although I'd perfer the original over DX, DX is still better than the rest of the list IMO). A former friend got me into the series with his b&w copy, and me and my brother put our money together and co-purchased DX. I ended up exclusively playing it.
It has hands down the best story and ending in my book, and the world felt so alive and explorable. The music was awesome for a gameboy game, and I feel it pushed the system to its limits. This game and Majora's Mask are tied for my favorite Zelda game. The Oracle games felt like an inferior LA knockoff(not that they were bad, just not as good), I only was able to play FS once since I didnt realy know anyone else with the game, Minish Cap felt uninspired to me in comparison to both LA and Minish Cap, and dont even get me started on PH. |
