Re: Anyone Find PH Lame?
It brings back the Windwaker concept of having the large ocean overworld, but all of the islands are very small and offer little exploring. Besides the main quest, all additional tasks are pointless and boring. You don't need any additional pieces of heart because you'll never die. All of the dungeons are linear, never requiring you to think about "Where do i go next?" or "Where have i seen that before". There are no points in the game where you will get stuck. But if you own the DS, i suggest you buy it because its been a while since the DS made a decent game.

i would recommend it. the temple of the ocean king was a really nice idea.
the only thing that annoyed me was the drawing the triforce bit on the door

Re: Anyone Find PH Lame?
Usually when people express their opinions using words such as 'lame' and 'sucks', that opinion isn't worth taking seriously.
Feel free to listen to your friends, but a wiser choice is to listen to experts, no not me (although I am an expert ), but all the review scores given in the video game industry. Phantom Hourglass has enjoyed overwhelmingly positive review scores including a near perfect score (39/40) by Famitsu, a 100 score from Gamespy, 95/100 from Nintendo Power, 9/10 from IGN, 9/10 from Edge and 97/100 from Hyper. Plus it has recieved many accolades as 2007's DS game of the year and it is also seen by many as the DS's best game.Look, PH is brilliant. Don't worry about the controls, on paper they sound daunting, but when you start using them they feel totally natural.

Re: Anyone Find PH Lame?
The controls can wear out my hands after a while, but that's more because I don't exactly have very strong hands and they wear out somewhat easily if I keep them in the same positioning for a long while (which is surprising considering I can hold any other game controller for long periods of time without getting cramps). If you have similar problems then play the game in smaller bursts so you don't get hand cramps. I probably should get a longer stylus for my DS so that way maybe it'll reduce the cramps I get, but otherwise I'd highly recommend the game.

Re: Anyone Find PH Lame?
What I really like most about PH are the dungeons and puzzles. I don't usually play with guides because I like to figure things out for myself and this game kept me thinking. The puzzles were really well made and I think that's what made this game stand out among the others.

Re: Anyone Find PH Lame?
PH is great, the only bad thing about it is the dungeon you get back to every once in a while.

Re: Anyone Find PH Lame?
It's fine for what it is. It's an 8/10 for me. I honestly loved Link's awakening and OoX, so I really wanted another one like that, but it's a good game none the less. I hated the controls for like 20 minutes, and then got used to them. It's really a solid game.

Re: Anyone Find PH Lame?
I'd get it if I were you. The story keeps you entertained (kept me entertained anyway), and there's quite a lot to do, you've got mini-games. Get it for your collection at any rate.

Re: Anyone Find PH Lame?
The only part that made me really smile was playing multiplayer with my neighbor. Spectacular.
The bosses aren't really awe-inspiring, the dungeons are okay, EXCEPT for the Temple of the Ocean King. You have to go through it after every dungeon. ALL OF IT, while evading invincible enemies and hauling gems around. And you're timed. It's not that it's a bad game, it just gets repetitive. I'll stick with Megaman ZXA. |

Re: Anyone Find PH Lame?
here's my personal opinion of PH:
it was a great game, especially the controls and environment and puzzles. i loved how hte game played out, with you exploring the oceans and discovering new islands as you went. however... the story was great up until the end, super lame ending, and super lame enemy, like seriously WTF Nintendo. anyways. a fun game but not that memorable as far as epicness goes EDIT: Temple of the ocean king sucks. and you have to do it at least 4 or 5 times. so..... yeah. dungeons are great, but after the first time through the TotOK you'll get annoyed.
