Re: Beware: Fake copies of Minish Cap

I bought a fake MC, from GAME, new. Full price of 30 quid, translating roughly into 60 bucks. I'm angry now.

Manchester is a major city, though. Here you might get the occasionally REALLY crap Nintendo 64 game, but nothing ever good, like Zelda or Mario. We don't have a Gamestop. We have Gamestation and GAME. We also have CEX, though, which is quite good for Gamecube games but anything futher in the past than that is few and far between.

Again, we don't have 'Gamestop.' Only GAME and Gamestation, they don't really do the older games.

This being the copy of TMC that I had off you right? Yeah, I agree that it looks kinda weird. I've never experienced any save issues though. It runs fine for me. It just looks weird. xP

Re: Beware: Fake copies of Minish Cap

I've got a bootlegged copy of pokemon emerald and also super mario 2, and yes i bought them from ebay, the annoying thing is that when i play the pokemon emerald on my DS it keeps messing up, so it is a pretty bad copy, its bloody annoying when you buy a game and pay quite a bit of money for it and it ends up being a fake. Most of the time the save file messes up, the Super mario game works pretty well though, always seems to be the pokemon games.

If you look at the stickers print on the fake cartridges, you can see that the quality of the print is pretty bad and where it says 'Nintendo seal of quality', that is pretty blury.

Any one here recieved any fake Nintendo DS games.

Oh also if the seller says that the game will be sent flat packed (box), chances are its fake.

Re: Beware: Fake copies of Minish Cap

I have bought multiple copies of games from used stores and flea markets... Never had any problems...

I think the people around here are too damn stupid to counterfiet... Wouldn't suprise me...

Oh, and off topic, TMC is tottally worth it. If worst comes to worst and you can't find it (And I say this as an utterlly last resort) emulate it. Emulate it, then donate like 50 bucks to Nintendo. o.O

So? Cardiff also only has GAME, Gamestation (which is excellent by the way) and a CEX, and there are pretty good games in all of them. I mean, I bought my OoT from Gamestation.

But, back on topic, I also bought a copy of MC off Amazon, a used copy, but mine's genuine, as I made sure to check the seller's ratings and such. Only cost me a tenner too.

Yeah, MC is an awesome game, it is totally worth buying.

Re: Beware: Fake copies of Minish Cap

I got the fake version of TMC too. Like everyone else, I got it from eBay. I got it like two weeks later than the UK release so it's been going on for a while. I completed it like 20 times before it erased my data and stopped saving properly though so it was worth the money really. I also have a rom that I can use now so it's not much of a problem.

Oh and the sellers ratings were perfect so don't trust them so much. Buyers may not realise they are fake if they work properly like mine did. I only found out now that it's fake. I thought it was an import or something.

Honestly, I think your best bet would be to buy games from the official EB Games website. That way, you won't have to worry about fakes. Unless of course, someone bought and traded in a fake, and when the employees tested it, it worked fine for them. There's a very small chance of that happening, though. I think an employee would be able to spot a fake game.

Re: Beware: Fake copies of Minish Cap

I have a counterfeit copy of Leaf Green, and another of Ruby / Sapphire.
The Leaf Green keeps saying game data is corrupted but it still works (until I've had the game about half a year where the save does not simply work anymore.)
The Ruby / Sapphire one kept saying "The game can be played" when starting it up, and worked fine... about half a year. I still don't get the "The game can be played" thing, of course it can be played.

Re: Beware: Fake copies of Minish Cap

I have one, the battery in them is crap.

Though to be honest, I don't really care. I got it before its official release over here it cost about $8 and it let me play it through about 4 times before the battery died and didn't let me save any more.

Re: Beware: Fake copies of Minish Cap

Any idiot can make a fake copy of a game.

Get a GBA flash cart, the GBA card reader, and a ROM of the game you want. Put it on with whatever software, and you're done.

So just be careful buying off ebay.

Never buy games in Asian areas where they are all black marketed and cheaply made copies of the game.

Their copies are a bit more intricate than that, but hey.

Re: Beware: Fake copies of Minish Cap

you know you provided that link showing the differences, my one was the fake one and its worked fine. i think this may be fake some how or for some reason they are making fake copies by simply changing the stickers, its not un common to catridges to lose saves, think about the playstation always getting corrupt files of the memory cards and my mates copy of pokemon blue not saving his game so if he wants to play it its is absolutly pointless

edit: okay now its even sillier, never mind, i dont have a fake (i think)

this was the piture on the website:

and this is mine:

Is my real or fake?

Edit 2: if it is real or not it still works and looks a hell of alot cooler than your usa silly rubbish ones

edit 3: ohhhh i found my 9c0 nintendo 2001 bit inside the thing, hopfully this is my last edit
