Magic Rod or Boomerang?

The two best weapons in Link's Awakening. Which do you prefer, and why?

I prefer the Magic Rod. I'm aware the Boomerang may be a little better, but there's nothing more fun than being able to burn everything in your path.

I love the Boomerang for its ability to turn Link, with his trusty Flying Rooster, into a FLYING MACHINE OF BLADED DEATH.

...However, props to the Magic Rod for its ability to kill small animals.

I second that.

I personally prefer the Boomerang, because Boomerangs have always been a favourite Zelda weapon of mine, and it's wonderful how it becomes so powerful in Link's Awakening. And also, it was the goal of the first Zelda trading sequence ever, which I liked very much.

I thought the goal was to be able to read the "Dark Secrets and Mysteries of Koholint" book... Never mind, guess you need the Magnifying Glass for both. Heheh, never thought about that.

Yeah the Boomerang was great. Too bad its weak as crap in all the 3D games.

Actually, you don't need to get the magnifying glass to read the book and I love the Boomerang.

Out of those two? The boomerang, because by the time you get the magic rod, it's too late in the game for it to be of any real use.

My favorite weapon/item is the Hookshot, though.

What? Yes you do. If you try to read it without the magnifying glass, it'll say something like "You can't read it; the print is too small."

Well, I meant best out of terms of power and range. The Seashell Sword with the Red Tunic and/or Piece of Power may be stronger.

I think of the Magic Rod as more of a "mess around" item. You get it in the final dungeon, so there's no proper uses for it, but you can kill Cuccos and Dogs, kill Goponga Flowers, etc. Since it's possible to get the boomerang before the Face Shrine, I guess it is a bit more useful.

Is there anything the Magic Rod can defeat that the Boomerang can't?

Boomerang kills the final nightmare in one hit!

There are those yellow foxes/dogs in Mabe Village. I believe.

gotta go with the boomerang man, it just has the robin hood type feel when you have weapons like bows and boomerang and all that good stuff

I'd have to say, magic rod. you should of pout a poll on this.

the entire game i had a personal vendetta against the dogs... at least until i got the magic rod... Muhahahahaha!

To each its own.
Magic Rod works get for 1 hit attacks for Moblins or monsters that get in the way.
Boomerang is a great for distanced attacks, plus it gives a quick final puch to the Final Nightmare.

The fact that there's no magic meter in LA makes it really fun to mess around with the Magic Rod. Otherwise, I would have said boomerang, but I only used it for the chicken glitch and the final boss. I preferred the bow.

I was going through the game recently, and I managed to get the fire rod before level one. I came back from fishing, and, well... I suddenly found myself in Hell... It was fun in Hell... Nothing made any sense, and opened a chest in a rather generic room and got it. I accedently saved, and now I have a Fire Rod to play with. It's fun...

Back on topic, I like the boomerang. It's the most powerful Zelda weapon of all time!!! How else do you kill a boss in 1 hit in a Zelda game, excluding the unholy triforce?

I like the boomerang the best just because I've been using it since the very first Zelda, and it's been one of my favorites since then because of all it's uses. I love to stun enemies and kill others. =)

The Bommerang because its ultra powerful in LA

2 words, Magic Rod. Its very powerful and doesn't JUST paralyze your enemy like the boomerang.
