Can I play all Gameboy Zeldas on DS?

Ok so I asked a guy from the video game store, and he told me that I could play OoS/OoA, MC and PH on DS BUT I wouldn't be able to play LA / DX on the DS, is this true?
Either way its ok, a friend of mine has a Gameboy Advance SP he doesn't use but I wanna know since I'm buying em.

Thanks

You can play Gameboy advanced games on a DS, but not Gameboy color or Gameboy games.

Yeah, Gameboy and Gameboy Color game cartridges won't even fit into the DS.

If someone found a way to make them fit… hmm… I wonder if they would work then?

Yeah your right. I tried to put Link's Awakening in my DS the other day in vain hope that I didn't have to use my GBA. (I never realized how dark the screen was before.)

I don't think it would the DS wont read it or something like that. But who knows maybe it will. I dare someone to try.

I suppose I might get one if I can't find my Game Boy Colour. I'm not sure but doesn't that have a lighter screen?

They wouldn't - the DS uses a completely different architecture to the Gameboy and the Advance, which is why it can't run GB games and needs a separate slot for Advance games (the actual hardware required is different). The hardware can be emulated in software, however.

Or something like that, anyway. I await somebody clever to correct me...

It would be amusing to see what happened though; maybe take the circuit board out of a GB game case

Soo pretty much Minish Cap and Phantom Hourlglass only on DS

And Link's Awakening, Oracle of Season and Ages on a GBA SP?

Oh damn another question... A Link to The Past / 4 Swords on is for GBA right?
To play it multiplayer I need 2 GBA or a GBA and a DS is ok?

3 DS, GBA
2 DS, 2 GBA etc.

Minish Cap is GBA, but you can play it on DS obviously. And same goes for LttP.
Don't think you can use a DS in the multiplayer, it is something I considered (or even using two DS's), but I don't know how you'd link it to the GBAs. Unless there's a magical cable somewhere I've overlooked...

EDIT: Also LA can't be played on DS because its GB/GBC

It's all about business. Nintendo wants you to buy the latest systems to buy the latest games. If they kept making all of their games backwards compatable to all the previous systems, then there wouldn't be a huge need to purchase the latest system (other than the latest games that can only be played on them). For example, you aren't able to transfer your Pokemon from P.Gold onto the latest games. So they are sorta forcing you to purchase the latest titles if you want to continue with the fad (hence you probably bought a GBA to purchase the other Pokemon titles).

It's just a matter of time before Nintendo does one of the following:
1. Have the Wii's Virtual Console have GB and GBC games (and possibly other portable games from other companies)
2. Create a new model DS with a Virtual Console of it's own (hey, the games were portable, wouldn't it make sense for the downloadable games to be aswell?)
3. Create a new adapter for the DS to play retro games.

If it was my bet, put your money on one of the first two to happen.

Sadly, no. The GBA and the DS have no way of communicating with eachother (sure there are some "wireless adapters" for the GBA, but it's not the same as using Wifi or whatever communication the DS uses for multiplayer).

In my personal opinion, it's one of the reasons why FS was one of the least popular games in the Zelda series (there were quite a few requirements just to play it).

Yeah I was kind of hoping Nintendo would add Gameboy Games to the Wii VC, but meh, not hard to get a GBA nowadays.

Thanks for the info guys.

I have played LA on DS but i dont own whats called the DS-X so i wont futher discuss it.
It would be really cool if the Wii had a feature like the GC had where you buy an add-on to play GBA games on the big screen. It would work ok i think becasue instead of a stylus you could use the Wiimote....although it would be much harder to do things like write on your map in PH and stuff....and then you are also missing the mic :S

The absence of a mic could be remedied by an attachable mic that uses the port that the nunchuck/classic control uses. But it might be better to use something that you would attach to the bottom of the controller that leeched off of the wiimotes power but used it's own transmitter, because there might be a game that requires the use of the classic controller/nunchuck and the mic at the same time.

I think Nintendo should make a DS virtual console like BGS said.

No.

The DS can play anything from DS games and Game Boy Advance games, even an M3 of you have one for the Lite, but it can't play any Game boy of Game boy color games.

You'd need an SP for that.

Darnit, it would be awesome if nintendo made some sort of adapter that made it so you could play GBC games on a DS

It can be done. Either by a long time of coaxing the DS to read the cartridge, or us an AR as a proxy.

Personally in my opinion LA wasnt the best Handheld at all and i didnt go out of my way to finnish it really. It was free becasue my friend had it on his DS but i would never buy the game or a GB to play it on just for that. I would prefer to play PH, MC or LttP on a handheld.

Ok the questions have been answered multiple times (even by yours truly), so I think Zonack has got the message.
