Which GBA game?

I'm thinking of buying one of the GBA Zeldas (I have a DS; I can't really be bothered putting batteries into my original backlight-less GBA, and I don't think I want Phantom Hourglass), so basically, which one is better?

Re: Which GBA game?

Hmm...that's a tough question, and it hinges all on which type of Zelda games you like. Looking back for me, however, I would have to recommend LA. Solid gameplay, good story and very satisfying overall.

Re: Which GBA game?

See, I think I have probably listed every game except Four Swords Adventures of the type of Zelda game which I have not played. :-p

There's NES LoZ, which is basic overhead. There's AoL, which is side-scrolling (mostly). Then there's the more advanced overhead of ALttP, which (from what I've seen) has better graphics, animation, movement and flexibility. I think every original handheld game (i.e. not NES Classics, but obviously still including the GBA ALttP) has based itself on the general structure of ALttP, presumably because it worked so well. (That would seem to point towards ALttP GBA being the best option. I do have a SNES, but it's so crappy I might as well not have.)

If I were to continue on, I would then say there's the 3D of Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, the advanced versions of that seen in The Wind Waker and Twilight Princess, and whatever Phantom Hourglass is supposed to be.

I vote for an oracle game. People always forget about them. ALTTP is good too though.

Re: Which GBA game?

If you haven't played ALttP then that's the way to go. But you should look to aquire the original, the SNES version or though the Wii's VC. If neither of those are an option for you then go with the GBA version.

If you have played ALttP before though, then go with The Minish Cap. The Minish Cap is one of my favorite Zelda games, and even though it's one of the shortest and the easiest Zelda games, it's still one of the most original and most fun.

Honestly though, no matter which way you go, I don't think you can go wrong.

*edit* I voted The Minish Cap btw, because even though ALttP is the first game you should play, I would try to get it a different way, if possible.

Re: Which GBA game?

I'd go with Minish Cap. The game is a bit short, but it has loads of side-quests. Ezlo is also in it. He's far better than the rest of Link's sidekicks(Except Midna).

Link's Awakening because it is the best 2D Zelda.

Re: Which GBA game?

Get Link Awakinging DX. If you beat it or don't want it buy minish cap. Then Phantom Hourglass. Then Oracles. Than Link to the Past. All very fun games. I love Zelda. ^_^

Re: Which GBA game?

All the games are good. But for your first one I would suggest Links Awakening, because the storyline is one of the best. And you do not want it to be ruined.

Re: Which GBA game?

I've played ALTTP, LA and MC for GBA/GBC. I'd go with LA, easy. ALTTP is a close one, but I didn't have as much fun with it.

MC is kinda on the ew side, really. I thought the puzzles were boring.

Re: Which GBA game?

IN my opinion, ALTTP is the best 2D Zelda game. Also, the origonal (and the one that requires the most cooperation from other players) 4 Swords Adventure is included in the same pack! There are also sidequests that require you to travel back and forth between the games with a

Re: Which GBA game?

Get ALttP. I liked it. Plus, PM me & I can tell you plenty of the secrets (though those are most fun discovering by yourself). If you get Oracles, buy LA to go with it. But be warned, though the 'secrets' system may be cool, there is so much repitition in them they're like scrambled-up versions of OoT. Have fun!
