A link To The Past Or Minish Cap

I don't know which zelda gameboy game for my ds i should buy. A Link to the past (yes i know its a snes game) or Minish cap. My favorite game ever would be Oot followed by MM and i heard a Link to the past is like oot. But im also craving to play a game like Windwaker (which is my third favorite game). Please give me your opinion on what you think of those games and which one i should buy.

aLttP is by far my favorite 2D Zelda game. It has a similar feel to OoT in many respects, it's a decently long game, it has LOTS of cool dungeons, the map is really twice as big as it looks
Spoiler (Highlight to read):
Because there's a light and dark world
, magic wands, and lots of other awesome things.

Minish Cap has some similarities in gameplay and buildings/dungeons to aLttP, and some cool sidequests that give it a touch of a MM or WW feel to it. A pretty solid game with a few twists thrown in, but I must confess I haven't beaten it yet...I stopped halfway through to beat aLttP [again ] and I just started PH.

A Link to the Past is basically OoT: replace Ganondorf with an evil priest (who in reality is Ganondorf) who is the King's advisor, replace the Spritual Stones with the Pendants of Virtue, replace the future with the bizarre Dark World, keep the Master Sword as the weapon you get after getting all 3 artifacts, replace the 7 sages with the 7 maidens (who are descendants of said sages), replace tediousness, with fun and challenging gameplay and you've pretty much got ALttP.

The Minish Cap is also good, with an somewhat original story, but very easy gameplay.
If you really crave something like TWW, you should try Phantom Hourglass: It's basically TWW's style and characters (a whopping two of them), in a new region of the sea, and gameplay similar to the 2D games.

Oh and also, be forewarned that aLttP enemies do a lot more damage than MC enemies later in the game

Oh cool how long do you think it would take for the average gamer? In link to the past are there any villages like oot or is it just temple ater temple like LoZ? Im don't like what im hearing about minish cap and i have ph. Is OOS or OOA really good and if they are what zelda game would they most be like?

^^ With Link to the Past yes it's a good sized adventure with like 11 dungeons to get through.

Minsh Cap has similar gamplay to LttP but it's a tad bit shorter than LttP, nonetheless it's a solid game.

I would get Link to the past first, then get the Minish Cap later on.

Hmmm, I don't remember exactly how long it takes to beat it. If you play it pretty regularly [but not like...obsessively and nonstop] it should be a good week+ of fun for you at least.
There's one village, and a lot of little houses/people to talk to along the way. Some minor sidequests and stuff...definitely a lot more to do in between dungeons than the original LoZ. I believe there's something like 24 items in the game. And it has definite replay value. I've played it through like 5 times I think.

And I haven't beaten OoS or OoA yet, but I from what I understand OoS was originally going to be a remake of LoZ, but a lot better and with a lot more to do, meanwhile OoA was supposed to connect with it to add more quests, and there was going to be a third game too, but the third game got dropped. Then over time, OoS was changed quite a bit. So while it's still similar in the overworld map and has a lot of similar bosses to LoZ, it's way more complex and has a lot more to do.

I would suggest Alttp! It offers super (yes, SUPER!) challenging dungeons and bosses! The story is creepy and cool! And I have played a little bit of Minish Cap and (yes, this sounds dumb) the first dungeon was TOO easy! I mean too easy for the first dungeon! And the item was dumb. But I only know about up to the first dungeon in MC. But if you like a challenge, get Alttp! I am up to the Ice Palace in the Dark World, which I can't figure out! That's how hard it is!

MC is absolutely brilliant, I’d recommend it over ALttP but ALttP is also a great retro game and you would find it a easier game to complete. You decide.

Its tough.

Minish Cap is, in my opinion, the better game, but it is also painfully short. It is a very solid game, and has much more reply value then ALttP, but the main story will take you a matter of days. However, I think that ALttP is a bit too much like OoT- Minish Cap is somthing a bit differant.

*shrug* You're call.

A Link to the Past has 13 dungeons and 13 bosses, and a lot of interesting items.
The Minish Cap is, sadly, too short, but in general more inventive than ALttP. The areas are certainly more interesting than the ALttP ones. TMC also offers a lot more sidequests.
So I prefer TMC.

I heard that you can make figures in the game by taken pictures of people. That is my favorite side quest (after anju and kafei one) in anyzelda game. I did it on Windwaker you see. So is the minish caps figure making thing like the wind wakers?

No, it's far worse than in Wind Waker. You'll have to collect some blue seashells and trade an regularly increasing amount of them for a figurine, that is decided at random.

Yeah thats what i will proberly do im looking them up all day. And Link to the past is said to be one of the greatest games ever in my edge magazine they ranked it 6th best game ever (oot coming firstof cource lol). Minish cap also seems fun because it has all the characters you know and love and seems to have a comedy side to it.

Huh?TAD bit shorter?

LttP:11 dungeons(13 if hyrule castles are counted)

MC:5 dungeons

Anyway,LttP is larger in terrain by FAR,while MC has a small map

If you like dungeons and the real storylines, pick LttP.MC is for mediocre sidequests.Gotta hate them kinstones.

Well, I really like Minish cap. It was a big game, with funny bosses, temples and characters. I actually thought it was much better than Phantom hourglass. So, my tip is MC. But, ALttP, is also really big and good. Haven't got it, but my friend have it, and I have seen him playing it, and I've test played it several times.

ALttP is widely considered to be the best handheld. It is innovative, with deep gameplay and lots of exploring involved in completign the game. I had the most fun getting all the heart pieces (to this day, this is the only Zelda game that I've completed this task in) because they require you to use your head and really look for them.

MC is a more upbeat Zelda, with the graphics of FS/FSA. It's not as deep, but I found playing it more fun that ALttP. Even though it has 5 dungeons as opposed to LttP's 11, you'll have a great time on it. Plus, there are the trophies to collect and the Kinstones to merge.

You really should get both, because I cannot recommend just one.

For those of you saying ALttP is too much like OoT, remember ALttP came FIRST. OoT is the one that has a milked storyline, not ALttP.

As for which game is better, that'd be TMC by far. Great, original storyline, cool moves to learn, cool dungeons and bosses, and it even has a lot of character interaction and depth when you go around fusing Kinstones. ALttP is fun, but it's basically, go do this, then go do that. There's hardly any character depth and not much to do besides the main story. In TMC, you could do practically anything you want between dungeons, from learning new sword techniques, fusing Kinstones, exploring secret caves, or just mess around.

TMC >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> ALttP

...Are you kidding? TMC has one of the worst plots in the series (with Vaati and the Lightforce being the worst parts, because they are crappy copies of Ganon and the Triforce respectively)

Hey, there's a thing called an opinion. If you're going to act like I'm wrong and you're right, take your stupid comments elsewhere.

I thought TMC's plot was interesting and original. You can't change that.
