Something I found interesting...(last boss of PH spoilers)

I was doing my vocab homework and I saw something interesting on the sheet(whoa when does that ever happen?). Look, I have it outlined in red.

The latin root "bellum" means war. The last boss of PH is Bellum. Now makes you wonder if you'll ever see "ganon" or "vaati" on your latin and greek roots vocab sheet.

Hmm... thats interesting. Althogh I don't know what Bellum spacificly has to do with war.

I'm not taking Latin, so I can't check out Ganon or Vatti. :'(

Well, I knew Bellum's name had some roots to war because if you search "Bellum" on Wikipedia, it redirects to war. Still, that's interesting...

I'm not taking Latin, it's just regular Language Arts class. A lot of english words have latin roots.

That's interesting... I had wondered how they came up with that name. This is better an explanation than any, I suppose.

Though I don't see how our word "bell" came from the Latin word for war, but I'm sure there's a logical explanation.

I dont think that it's our actual word "bell", but the root "bell" which comes from the latin Bellum. That root "bell" makes up many words in english which relate to war. ex: Belligerent, bellicose etc.

Thats actually pretty cool.

pretty cool, and of course nintendo didn't just pick the word bellum just because it sounded pretty. *gasp* bellum trying to take over the dictionary now *runs away screaming*.
