Did anyone else see that ad?
Did anyone else see that ad for PH? The one that's not really an ad for ph alone but a bunch of other games and it says at the end "Great games for girls". This make me wonder was ww animated in that cartoonish style to be aimed at the female gamer market in the first place?

Re: Did anyone else see that ad?
I saw the advert, and I was a little disheartened by it. Zelda has never come across as being a hugely masculine game, so it fits quite nicely as a unisex franchise. Why they chose to market it as a "great game for girls" in this advert, I do not know.
Perhaps another example of Nintendos' quest to attract different audiences, yet forgetting their long time followers? |

Re: Did anyone else see that ad?
Yeah, I've seen it. Most of the games it was advertising were like animal crossing and nintendogs (Which I think slide a bit to the female side but are unisex too) but Zelda, Mario and Brain Training? (I think these were in it but I don't really remember because I havn't seen it recently) They aren't really 'great games for girls' or great games for the age group that ad was targeted at. Most children that age wouldn't even be able to play PH

Re: Did anyone else see that ad?
That's a good find. I haven't seen it yet, but I wouldn't put it past Nintendo to create imagery to appeal to the female audience. I started to think about that earlier with Twilight Princess. The game isn't very difficult and they did their best to make Link attractive. The thought bothered me, though, because in a way it seemed to stereotype females. Now that they actually advertise "a great game for girls," makes me pretty angry. Female gamers can play the same games as any male gamer. [/womens rights]

Re: Did anyone else see that ad?
^ KasutoStve is a she. I'm starting to think this fits in with their whole 'casual fanbase' idea, because, it wouldn't be unreasonable to say, most gamers are male, so their target audience is women because there are more potential new gamers there.
