It wasn't a dream. The pirates just though it was. Didn't you see:
a) Link had the hourglass.
b) Linebeck's ship
...?

It was a Majora's Mask-esque style "other world" or something.
Either that or a Time conpression or portal.

But the ending difinitively showed that it was not a dream.

It should also be noted that with Hyrule and its assorted relics of the triforce seemingly gone for good, there doesn't necessarily need to be a future Link or Zelda. However, they might make a good starting point for this new world's mythology. The Phantom Sword might actually be a piece of a bigger puzzle. Even though it is seemingly gone, we're left with the hourglass as a hint that what happened wasn't just a dream...

Whatever you believe on the issue of the timeline, I've always stuck to the idea that Wind Waker was intended as a definite ending point of the whole Ganondorf/Triforce thing. I don't believe in a "raised" or "unsunk" Hyrule appearing after the fact. The King wished for it to be drowned so that the past could be forgotten and the new world could prosper. This is yet another reason that Phantom Hourglass may indeed be the beginning of the "non traditional" Zelda games.
I never thought about it but the with the great sea it can really form a part of an age. after PH, tetra en Link can explore more, fighting pirates and other sea dangers. and maybe find the next Hyrule? I would really like to see how they find the new Hyrule and lay its foundations.

Is there a certain way to catch Neptuna, or does it just appear at random? I have the big fishing lure, and have caught alll types of fish except Neptuna

the fairy is back , hurray!

Here in Europe the game won't come before the 19th (only two more days!!!), I try to overlook possible spoilers so you will have to forgive me for not taking part in any conversations taking place in this thread.

But from what i heard, Navi or rather probably a Navi-like fairy will be back in the game, i'm really happy about that cause i missed her (or her uglier little sister Natl) quite a bit in Wind Waker. In Octarina of Time and Majora's mask I got used to that little fella following me around in the darkest part of the dungeons. I especially liked Natl who was inquisitive and curious. I could explore some part of some dungeon, and sometimes she would be quite some distance away buzzing near some statue or object like she had a mind of her own. For some reason especially in the darker world of Termina i found her presence somewhat reasuring and unlike some other players i didn't find her irritating in any way, she was my trusty compagnon following me around and being quite useful most of the time and even entertaining sometimes.

In WindWaker which i have just finished, i missed her presence, sure you got this kind of "cellphone" where the pirate girl Tetra or the dragonship can talk to you , but compaired to fairies, it was pretty impersonal. Navi or Tatl would always follow you around, no matter where you goes, the dragonship in WW just wait patiently outside the dungeon while you do the dirty work, and more often he just talk to you to hurry up on the quest , i found him quite bossy at time. Navi and Tatl would help you in actual fights and sometimes said fun things, they were also a bit of a light sources in dark places and as said before made the dungeon crawling less lonely for Link when i played.

So I don't know much about Phantom Hourglass , not even sure the fairy will follow Link around like in the previous games, but i'm glad she will make an appearance nevertheless and it's an extra reason for me to get this game which from what i gathered will be excellent.

Yeah...I'm not going to put this in spoiler tags...because it is a spoiler thread...but you actually get 3 faries and later on in the game you can switch between which fairy is following you around on the screen. Ciela, however is the main fairy, the fairy of courage...

Hey did anyone notice that the red fairy was a boy...? There was a paert in the phantom dungeon where Ciela says "That's what he said" referring to the red fairy... what is the blue fairy? I assumed a girl..but I could be wrong. It will be cool seeing fanart for the three fairies...sorry i forgot their names...

Re: Official Phantom Hourglass thread: Spoiler Warning!!

So, what did people think of the "comical" side of this game?
I liked it, twas very silly, like when he's creating the Phantom Sword. "Link please give me the Phantom Hourglass"

"Dun dun dun DUUU-"

*Oshus grabs it*

I ROFL-ed there.

Lineback at the Ghost Ship was just... solid. Lineback's antics are the best.

Yes I love Lineback. He is so funny! And the sword part was funny too. I also laughed at the part Link got the first spirit because I thought his little dance or whatever....the 'i got an item' jig was bigger and better then every before. I don't ever recall him dancing and spinning around...as much.

Hmm. I figured that the Phantom Hourglass was a souvenir of some sort from the ocean king.

As for Lineback's ship...well, I don't know.

It's a very open ending and I like to believe it was a dream of some sort.

Re: Official Phantom Hourglass thread: Spoiler Warning!!

Am I the only one who... doesn't like this game so much? Don't get me wrong, it's a good game, and I'm actually only about halfway through. But I already know that the first 3 dungeons are so straightforward that it really decreases the replay value. Another complaint: Why TF did they switch back to heart containers? A major step backwards, the piece-of-heart system was working so well and it really takes away some space for exploration.
It's a good game, but I don't think that it really lives up to Zelda standards, at least so far. The whole setup just seems... gimmicky, like they focused more on showing off than on gameplay.
But still, it's been getting better as I go on, I've noticed that. I just wished it had a good first half. And since I've said so much against the game, I do have a compliment: Dongorongo is the best boss ever.

EDIT: Oh God, the spoilers! I will stay away from this thread before I read too much.

Man, I loved Phantom Hourglass. I had a blast just seeing how it uses the entire system. When you have to press the sea chart to the green symbol to find out where to go next at one point, I spent three minutes thinking about it, going "wow, they really did that", and finally closing my DS. I thought it was neat. Fighting the Pol's Voices with the microphone was great, too. I also just really love the Wind Waker universe.

As for the ending, I like the idea that the Ocean King and Ciela put Link and Tetra back to where they started.

Yeah, the idea of the ending was awsome! Oh and for the others wondering when the new LoZ is coming out, it's sometime in 2008 [Mid April/June]

Re: Official Phantom Hourglass thread: Spoiler Warning!!

Okay, so, one last thing. Just so I have this right, this IS the handheld zelda forum, this is correct. Second, we can't talk about new zelda releases to handhelds just because they either don't have the money to get the game or are too lazy to get the game but yet we have to adhere to the minor populace of people who haven't played the game and just happen to APPARENTLY NOT HAVE ANYTHING ELSE TO DO but spoil the game for themselves? either way, this game is massive, for a handheld, it's improbable that this any single thing would spoil an entire game.

Side note:
If you don't want to be spoiled then don't read the thread? or, if you see one thing that is "spoiler like" (which by the way, every thread I read had a spoiler warning in the first post, some people should try to read instead of look with their mouths... or fingers in this case) then don't click it. Chances are IT'S GOING TO SPOIL IT FOR YOU.

Personally I don't understand how something could be spoiled, to me it would only enhance the wait until that situation happens.

Also, no one wants to WAIT to talk about something, the passion dies and no discussion will take place, ever. Or that passion will die and conversations that would have lasted for pages will only last for sentences.

conclusion, I think this is bogus. There should have been a vote, I'm positive that the votes for not combining it all into one thread would heavily outweigh the negative two or three votes for combining it.

Yeah right.

The game comes out in 8 months and we haven't even heard of it?

COOL!!! PH is awsome, go ahead and get it.

No, Navi is not in it (Thank god). She is replaced by a more spunky, less annoying, and more important, story wise, fairy named Ciela.

I could not agree more. No offence Daphness, but, BAD IDEA. :glare

I'm trying to keep the Handheld forum from being conjested with so many threads relating to a single topic. It's the Handheld forum, not the Phantom Hourglass forum.

I asked the admins to make a sub-forum for PH like they did with TP, but if they don't get around to doing it they just don't.

Re: Official Phantom Hourglass thread: Spoiler Warning!!

So, we can't talk about a hand-held game in the hand-held forum? Why can't there be a lot of topics on PH? It's new, everyone wants to talk about it, and the whole point of a forum is to allow people to talk about it.
