The Minish Cap vs. A Link to the Past.

Which do you prefer? I have yet to extensively play ALTTP, but I really enjoyed Minish Cap.

ALttP, no contest. Longer, harder dungeons, better items, the list goes on.

ALttP, it's quite simply a true classic in every sense of the word.

TMC, no contest. Great and original storyline, kickass weapons and items (how can being able to glide with cape or learn cool sword techniques like the Great Spin Attack be uncool? ), awesome dungeons and bosses, and great characters too. They all seemed to have a life of their own instead of just randomly being there like in ALttP. Also, Vaati was the coolest villain in Zelda history. Nothing can match up to his coolness. TMC is awesome in pretty much every way. Well, I guess the game could've been a little harder, but it was still the best handheld.

TMC is very underrated.

I like them both, but ALTTP is much much better. I see it as the original game. It's the best 2D game ever!!!

ALttP, definitely. I grew up with that game, it is one of the best Zelda games out there. The Minish Cap, however could have been better. It was a good game, but it was short. It would have been better if it was longer.

The minish cap was fun but it will never beat A Link to the past IMO.

A link to the past was the first zelda I ever played. And it will always be the best.

This is seriously not only about taste.

A Link to the Past beat Minish Cap by a long shot. Not because Minish Cap was bad, but because A Link to the Past was so great. It had more difficulty, more temples, a larger area to explore.

But to show why it IS really better let's weigh the facts.

Arguments for A Link to the Past ( correct me if any of them is wrong ) :

- A Link to the Past has a larger world then the Minish Cap.
- A Link to the Past has more temples then the Minish Cap.
- A Link to the Past is more of a challenge to beat.
- A Link to the Past was a lot more of a breakthrough.
- A Link to the Past has more items and possibilities.

Arguments for the Minish Cap ( correct me if any of them is wrong ) :

- The Minish Cap has slightly better graphics then A Link to the Past.
- The Minish Cap has more sidequests.
- Becoming Minish.

I probably didn't list all the possible arguments on both sides, but this is why I find it obvious to choose for a Link to the Past.

- That's purely preference, I preferred ALttP's graphics

- Can be compared to the light world/dark world mechanic. Exploring 2 worlds is present in both.

Not to rip on TMC, but comparing these 2 games together is unfair. TMC was only ever meant as a handheld, and ALttP was a console game. ALttP can hold its own against games like OoT, TMC can't.

Yes, you're probably right, but the topic was about which was better so I pointed out a few things. Sorry about saying the graphics in Minish Cap were better, when I think of it the capabilities are not really so different, but Minish Cap had a more cheerful colour idea and I like that .

It's true that console games often beat handheld games, but not always..

Like I said, TMC is very underrated.

ALttP was a great game, but I loved TMC even more. People need to look at TMC closer to see its awesomeness.

I'm not saying TMC is a bad game, it is really good. But I grew up with ALttP, it was my first Zelda game (at least the first one I beat, I might have tried the first two), so it will always be on the top of my list.

No, I meant that I think too many people say TMC is bad just because of it being short or easy. That game is so underrated it deserves more love than a bowl of candy on Halloween.

Just because I think alttp is better doesn't mean I think tmc is bad. It was actually pretty good, and a great addition to the series. It just wasn't on the same level as ALttP, and to be fair it wasn't trying to be.

Look, I never specifically said anybody in here hated TMC. My post was mainly directed at Mariofan9, but I was generally referring to all people who dislike the game.

Alttp was my very first zelda game and I had so many memories. Of course I like TMC but alttp was just a dream for me. *slash* die pig ganon ahh *drifts off into thought...* Ahh My fried corey still has my minish cap game, I'll get it back eventually and beat it fully lol.

Ive only played TMC its ok but not great but every one sez ALttP so ALttP.
