Shadow Link Challenge

Hey everyone, i have a question i want answered: Is there anyone who can defeat Shadow Link in the Palace of the Four Sword in ALTTP on GameBoy Advance?

Obviously the answer's "Yes", because to a seasoned veteran, Shadow Link is no more of a challenge than Ganon. HOWEVER, under certain conditions, he is nigh unbeatable. The conditions I refer to are simply this: Link's equipment is limited to the Master Sword (Power Level 2) and his Green Tunic.

These are the only limitations: you can use any other quest items, and can have potions and fairies in your bottles for use at any time. It's still bloody difficult!
I'd recommend beating Ganon under these conditions first: it's fairly easy, you simply have to use the Spin Attack constantly, as it's the only way to damage him. The same goes for Shadow Link, but the challenge comes when you reach Blue Link or Violet Link, as they both dodge Spin Attacks. Reckon you can do it? For all i know, some of you already have.

I've managed to get to Violet Link and wear him down a bit, but haven't yet defeated him. Give it a try and let me know!

yup.. sure enough... it took me about 15 times, and an hour and a half too beat him, but (a very bad flaw of mine... ) i'm a bit to prideful to let 'em beat me....

Proud. You're too proud to lose to him. And well done, you must be very good to have beaten him under those conditions. Tell me, did you use the Cape at all, and did you need to refill your Magic Meter?

Well done mate! I couldn't ever beat him on those conditions!

WOW!!!! I beat him with red tunic and golden sword and golden shield but never with just the master sword and the green tunic, anyone who can beat shadow link under those conditions is a skilled player!

Ohhhhh, wait, shadow Link? thats shadow link? If your talking bout all those 4 guys ya beat up...(I know you are) then yes, I have beat them....they arent really that hard, or not for me atleast, I havent beat them with the green and master sword, but I have with the red and master sword. And, I guess it would involve beating the game and get all those things again, so I doubt I will, but I'm guessing I probably could, because they werent that hard....I didnt even find it challenging, I found it easy, all you need is 2 blue potions 1 green, and a fairy....thats all I used.

I assume by Master Sword you mean you didn't temper your sword or throw it in the Great Fairy's fountain, because if you did, it makes it incredibly easy. With the Master Sword at its original power, the only way to damage the Four Links is by using a Spin Attack, and the Blue and Violet Link dodge your Spin Attack. This is not easy by any standards, as you have to attack when their guard is down, which usually means they're attacking you.
If you did beat them with the Level 2 Master Sword, well then more power to you.
Now try the Green Tunic. You will find that there's nothing easy about them. It'll truly test your skill.

To all forum members, if you want to take this challenge, you must ensure the following:

1. You have NOT upgraded the Master Sword. i.e. The dwarves haven't tempered it, and the Great Fairy hasn't blessed it.

2. You have NOT obtained the Blue Armour from the Ice Palace, or the Red Armour from Ganon's Tower. i.e. Link is still wearing his trademark Green Tunic.

Anything else goes. You can have anything in your bottles, Magic Cape, etc. etc.

I would strongly recommend getting ALL TWENTY Heart Containers - some of Shadow Link's attacks can take as many as EIGHT hearts in a single hit.

YES!!!! I just defeated Shadow Link! Finally, I can say that I've completely mastered ALTTP. Here's the relevant information regarding my victory.

Heart Containers: 20

Equipment:
- Master Sword (Lv.2)
- Mirror Shield
- Green Tunic

Items used:
- Magic Cape
- Red Potion (x2)
- Green Potion (x2)

Ah, sweet satisfaction! That was not easy, let me tell you!

Right, i bet you had the Golden Master Sword and Red Armour when you did, because if you did it my way (Blue Master Sword and Green Armour), you'll find that there's nothing easy about him.

yes, the only upgrade that i had was the magic meter, and i used the cape alot!!!
had 2 refill my meter twice, and the time that i beat 'em, i had a quarter of a heart left, and only one bottle of the four left with life potion!!!
