The Gust Jar
I always thought the gust jar was a very original zelda item. Then one day I played TWW and I was reminded of the deku leaf. They have certain similarities. So what are your opinions on this?

Re: The Gust Jar
The Gust Jar can be used as a weapon. The Deku Leaf can only be useful in combat against flying creatures, while the Gust Jar can suck in an enemy, and blow, get rid of spores, spider webs, ect. In actuality, there are big differences between them. The Deku Leaf mainly used to transport you (with a little help from the wind), while the Gust Jar is used mainly for combat. Ezlo takes care of the Deku Leaf problem.
I suppose the fact that they can blow things is the only similar thing between them...

Re: The Gust Jar
The deku leaf can also be used for battle but only against some enemies. I don't think they are similiar at all. You can also use the gust jar for transport but you have to suck up air first. Mostly the gust jar is used for sucking up enemies/items and not for blowing them away (like the deku leaf).

Re: The Gust Jar
In my honest opinion, the Gust Jar is the Deku Leaf 2.0. When you compare the items and the heros, the Gust Jar wins. The Deku Leaf can blow, so can the Gust Jar. The Deku Leaf can make the Hero of the Wind hover, Elzo can do the same thing (with the aid of a cyclone). Deku Leaf can't suck in air, the Gust Jar does. Deku Leaf consumes magic, the Gust Jar doesn't.
The only advantage the Deku Leaf has on the Gust Jar is making Link hover. I'm sure, that in a 3D world, the Gust Jar could be used like a jetpack (sorta like Mario's Waterpack in Sunshine).

Re: The Gust Jar
The only similarities between the Deku Leaf and the Gust Jar is that their primary function is to manipulate air, and that they can blow gusts of wind.
Let's explore this. With the Gust Jar, you can suck things in; you cannot do this with the Deku Leaf. With the Deku Leaf, you can glide through the air; you cannot do this with the Gust Jar. With the Gust Jar, you can also fire projectiles you have sucked into it; you can do no such thing. The Deku Leaf and Gust Jar are not comparable.
