New GBA Zelda game in the works?

I remember in early 2005 Eiji Aonuma said that the capcom team that worked on Minish agreed to work on a new Zelda title. He did not mention which platform. Today they announced that the DS Zelda game, Phantom Hourglass was being produced by Eiji Aonuma's team who is also obviously working on Twilight Princess. I doubt the Capcom team would be working on the Revolution Zelda since all console Zelda games were developed by the in house Zelda team. So the GBA is on the only logical system they would be developing for especially since they have only developed portable 2d zelda games in the past. what do you think?

Re: New GBA Zelda game in the works?

I think the GBA is obsolete hardware. Nintendo is looking to launch more DS titles, why would they downgrade back to the GBA?

You won't see anymore GBA titles, ever. That's my opinion.

No, I don't think that's true. That's like saying that you will never see any more titles for the PS2 because the PSP is out. The GBA and the DS are very different. The DS wasn't made to replace the GBA, otherwise, they wouldn't have made the Micro. GBA games are definitely still being made, though there are probably less from Nintendo alone.

You do realise the only reason they mak esuch consoles as the Mirco and Ps2 slim beacuse they need more money to keep the componany running. Also the only reason why games are still made on the GBA is probally for the 2d graphics.

I think fgdsfgs. But I digress. The DS and GBA aren't as different as the PS2 and PSP, although I do agree with Asci, the GBA will still have games made for it because the functionality of the two systems are different. The DS is more like a cousin to the GBA not a nephew or niece, meaning it shares a lateral relationship rather than a descending relationship, like that of the NES to the Super NES.

I agree with you, we won't see anymore GBA titles. We will only see the ones that were being made when DS started to sucess which means not too many.Zelda on gba wouldn't work anymore..not because its old but because its been done many times and its time for a change and they proved that with zelda DS.

Re: New GBA Zelda game in the works?

Well...

Before the DS even came out, we heard them constantly proclaiming that the DS is not the next Game Boy, but in fact an entirely separate "third pillar" to the company. I agree that the GBA is obsolete, but there're still games being made for the system, so it's not all dead. So, yea, there's a real possibility for more first-party GBA titles.

OR! Capcom's team could be working on a Zelda for the launch of the next GBA. Highly unlikely that that's happening now, though, since it'd be foolish of Nintendo to release another portable at this time. Keep in mind that the Capcom team didn't say WHEN they'd be working on another Zelda for Game Boy.

Sorry To Say Your Wrong Lozzie, Just been reading an interview with Beth Llewelyn, who states and i quote

"Game Boy is a huge franchise of ours and certainly we're going to continue to support that. There are still games coming out and Game Boy Advance SP is doing great. We'll continue to see games out there for that, but what comes next? Well, you'll have to wait and see."

So i think that thiers still life in the old war horse yet, how the sales will comapre to DS well thats a competly different question

Re: New GBA Zelda game in the works?

Ok, I was proven wrong. Meh

But if gamers are interesting in graphics, and the DS/PSP gives you better graphics for a game, why would you go back to the GBA? I just don't see the principle behind that...

Almost every company says stuff like that..and i haven't seen any news on upcoming games only games that were being produced already...I think what Nintendo means by that is there are still games that were being produced and almost finished.

Re: New GBA Zelda game in the works?

Japenese developers are still making games for the dreamcast...
Just goes to show that if you have a good piece of kit then titles will still be made for it.

And also the fact that Nintendo have said that the DS is not another GameBoy. What does this mean? Well simply put Nintendo seem to have a 2 pronged handheld attack, i'm guessing that it's in their best interests to continue to make GBA titles (has anyone heard of the GameBoy Micro btw..)
They will most certainly get Capcom to make another Zelda title on the GBA...especially since DS's still have a GBA slot.

I mean can any of you say that you wouldn't buy a GBA zelda because its made for obsolete hardware?

Re: New GBA Zelda game in the works?

What? They're still making games for the Dreamcast? Wow. In that case it could quite easily be for GBA.

Can you please give me a source on that article? I'd like to read it. =D

I think there is potential for the GBA, but they probably won't release another Zelda on it, unless it's a remake of another Zelda game. (But haven't they already remade all the ones they could?)

I say this because Zelda is moving on to bigger and better things. sure the GBA is wonderful and I'll treasure it always, but Nintendo loves experimenting with different things. They've had a huge amount of Gameboy Zeldas so they're probably going to try something else now.
