Marin and Tarin

Like Nintendo has confirmed, the Link from Link's Awakening is the same Link from Alttp and the Oracle Series (not literally but with the ending movie). But there's one thing I don't get: I always thought of Koholint being a dream of the Windfish. And dreams are really fantasy and memories combined. So Marin and Tarin do look a lot like Malon and Talon, then maybe the Windfish also has been in Hyrule before. That would mean that Ocarina of Time is before Alttp (where my theory matches the Zeldauniverse Timeline). But also, when you finish LA without losing any lives you see Marin at the end. I viewed this ending a few times and I came to the conclusion that Marin sort of changes in to the seagull. Which might then again mean that Link and Marin will meet again.

There are also much references to the importance of Marin as Link's friend (lover?) such as:" Is this your big chance?" and:"There's something I wanted to say you". In the last quote Marin sadly gets interrupted however and she says never mind.

Also there is one more thing I don't get, when you receive the Master Sword someone says:"My task here is done". Maybe someone else with connections to Hyrule was drained into the dream of the Windfish.

I like LA alot and I think it is very important in the Zelda timeline. But my theory might very well be wrong, I'm just saying what I think and I'd like to hear your opinion too.

Re: Marin and Tarin

If my memory serves I don't recall Nintendo confirming that it's the same Link from the Oracle games. In the manual of LA they said that Marin looks a lot like zelda. Thats why she looks familar to him. I always thought that Link and the wind fish were dreaming together. Why else would Link wake up right after the nightmares were killed?

No but it was sort of obvious after the ending movie in the Oracle Series. And about Marin looking like Zelda, I agree but how do you explain Tarin? And Link woke up because he woke the Windfish with the 8 instruments.

Yeah I guess It's possible that Tarin is a resemblance of Talon but to me Tarin looks more like Mario. I always thought LA was a sequal to ALttP. Who knows maybe I'm wrong. I think the problem for me is that I don't completely understand the ending of LA.

Yeah I don't get the whole Mario cameo thing in LA. The pyranha plants and goombas where pretty cool but they didn't always fit in the whole Zelda feeling.
