Compare: LA versus LA DX

I'm considering to buy Link's Awakening off of Ebay. Obviously, to buy it in color is more expensive. Which is the better buy? Is the color version really that much better then the black and white? Your opinions, please...

P.S. (Sorry if my poll didn't really turn out good; I've never used it before; I'm new!)

DX has the color dungeon which lets you get either a defense or attack upgrade. DX also has the picture shop. Overall they are the same game with a couple of add-ons in DX.

The only advantage the original has is the screen jump glitch! Oh, sweet goodness. That glitch is really fun. But DX is worth it, you should buy it.

Re: Compare: LA versus LA DX

Buy both That's what I would do. If I didn't already have both.

But if you're a reasonable person and only want to buy one, unlike me, then DX is easily the better choice. Even if it had no extras whatsoever... it's in color.

Normal version > DX.
I've played DX before, I just prefer the original.

I love the Colour Dungeon in the DX Version. It has really cool music. I did that dungeon while waiting in an airport. lol

Why? What's your reasoning? I can understand not liking remakes or ports or whatever - I absolutely hated all the changes in the GBA version of LttP, for instance. But... as far as I can see, there is no possible downside to the changes made to the DX version. Unless the colors they choose somehow clashed with what you had imagined or something.

Re: Compare: LA versus LA DX

This thread has made me play LA: DX again... ahh. I love that game. Stupid Minish Cap, making me think I could roll attack! I keep changing the screen view on my GBA. How frustrating.

I know what you mean. I did the same with OoS.

DX is overall the better buy because it is not been changed, just added to.

What, did you think the trees were pink? They didn't make anything too out there for your imagination to have already picked up. It was exactly how I figured it would be.

Re: Compare: LA versus LA DX

I think you should get DX because it has color and an extra dungeon that when you complete it you get either a red tunic (increases attack) or blue tunic (increases defense). The only down side is that in DX you can not skip through the text.

Re: Compare: LA versus LA DX

I want to get LA also, but I have always planned on getting DX :p the only problem is that the DX version is a lot harder to find. as a matter of fact, I NEVER see used zelda games at ANY stores, they're so good that nobody wants to get rid of them :p

Link's Awakening DX is in everyway better than the original. Why? It's in color and there is an extra dugeon.

Re: Compare: LA versus LA DX

Doesn't anyone else find that the DX version of LA looks absolutely awful though? IMO, the colours they used were, in a lot of cases, terrible - the Oracles managed to have a much better colour balance.

But still, the extra's like the colour dungeon and the photo's are fun, although not exactly super-necessary. And the secret ending is touched up a bit in the DX version as well, which is nice.
