Re: Best Handheld Zelda.

4 Swords was a great prolouge to a much longer line of games with Vaati in it to come. Had A LInk to the Past been on the poll, however, I would have chosen it; in my opinion it was the greatest, biggest and most challenging Zelda games for the handhelds. So what if it was a remake---it was still awesome.

Re: Best Handheld Zelda.

I'll have to say LA. That game started all of the features of Game boy games such as the trading sequence, the new media, etc.

Re: Best Handheld Zelda.

One of the best was LA but by far my personal best was the Minish Cap, it was short if you avoided and ignored Kinstone fusing. With such a beatiful scenery, good controls (in my opinion), great gameplay, and fabulous dungeons it felt more like a console game that I could carry around.

Re: Best Handheld Zelda.

I this order:

Link's Awakening DX
Oracle of Seasons
Minish Cap
Oracle of Ages.

(Haven't played enough of FS to include it)

They're all great games, but that's the order I had the most fun wit. ,

The best game boy zelda

I just happen to finish playing The Minish Cap. I thought it was well worth the $30 dollars i spent on it. I think it had a very interesting story. With the new range of items, from Roc's cape to the Mole Mits, you are able to go over many different terrains from land to sea, even up into the clouds. This is a must buy for any Zelda fan. I would rate it an even 10 on a scale and place it as my favorite zelda game for the Game Boy Advanced.

Re: Best Handheld Zelda.

I think The Minish Cap is the best because it not only has a lot of little touches from all of the past games, but it also innovates in several ways. I enjoyed the new items and I found that there was plenty of use for them outside of the dungeons in which they were found. Also, the game had several classic Zelda items, but since they weren't generally found in dungeons, that helped the dungeons to have new puzzles based on the new items. The Kinstone Fusion side quest was addictive and I liked the new perspective it gave on "exploration" (i.e., fuse with someone, and a secret will pop up on your map). And the gameplay was just awesome. Link controlled a lot better than he did in the port of A Link to the Past, as he had a roll move from the Nintendo 64 Zelda games, and he also had a lot of cool sword moves (both old and new). The gameplay is classic Zelda, with plenty of familiar locations and familiar enemies - I get enjoyment from just playing the game and messing around.

The Minish are a nice addition to the many races of Hyrule, and I found the story to be pretty satisfying. The cutscenes were nicely spaced out, which helped keep it from disappearing. Ezlo is the best partner that Link has ever had, and I often found myself talking to him just to see what he would say next. Vaati was a pretty good villain, and his character was fleshed out one-hundred times more than in Hyrulean Adventure. I liked his human form (it made him scarier, at least scarier than a giant eyeball), and I also like him in general - I wouldn't mind it at all if he became - if he isn't already - the second main villain of the series.

The game has fantastic music, with a healthy portion of old themes (the original Zelda theme!), remixed themes, and completely new themes. Of the new themes, my favorite is the one from Hyrule Town - it's really catchy. Lastly, the game is excellently heavy on the nostalgia factor, with guards blocking your path, Moblins giving you money, and small ponds drying up to reveal secret caves (those were Majora's Mask and Zelda 1 references). The Minish Cap is my favorite Game Boy Zelda game as well as one of my favorite Zelda games overall.

Here is how I would order the rest of the Game Boy Zelda games:

2. Link's Awakening - the first game to take place outside of Hyrule, it had a really involving story and it brought several innovations to the series (e.g., trading quest, secret seashell quest).
3. Oracle of Seasons - this game had an "old school" Zelda feel to it, especially with the appearances of all of the old bosses. It seemed to be more action-oriented than OoA, which is something I really liked about it.
4. Oracle of Ages - this game seemed to be more inspired by the Nintendo 64 Zelda games. This game was more puzzle-oriented than OoS, which gave it a nice sense of difficulty.

Re: Best Handheld Zelda.

I voted for Links awakening since it was the Very first zelda game i played, i even thought links name was zelda before i played this. this is the game that i can really call a adventure since i never played an rpg or anything like it before, the island just seemed so big and filled with places to explore. and the fact this is the game my gran bought for me when i was in hospital.
Oos comes in a close 2nd, I love that fist fight mini-game

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening
Such a magical game, wouldn't you agree? It was my first Zelda game, back when I was... very young. I remember playing it on that old colorless brick, the original gameboy, and being unable to figure out how to leave Marin and Tarin's house, at the beginning(You need to talk to Tarin first, heh). I needed my Dad's help to get through that one.

That began a long tradition of getting my ass stuck and being unable to find out how to proceed. It took me two years to finish this game, and I enjoyed every minute of it.

There is no game that has ever inspired such a feeling of adventure in me, no game that has managed to make me feel as if I am really wandering through this fantastic, mystical land, where giant Eggs crown mountains and the strange and bizarre is the norm. You can blame my Zelda fandom on this game... and my Zelda fandom has been one of the defining things in my life. This game ranks up there with the birth of my siblings, moving to New Hampshire, and being diagnosed with diabetes as a turning point in my life. Words cannot express how much of an impact it has had on me. Even now, hearing music from this game for even a few seconds is enough to unleash a flood of nostalgia, enough for me to remember the feeling of exploring the confines of Koholint Island, the Dreaming Isle.

And that feeling of exploration was not all... the first time I ever felt an emotion such as sadness in a game was with this game, when I finished the end and woke the Windfish... destroying the Island on which I had experienced to much. My first true taste of a bittersweet ending, and still one of the most potent.

This game is, and always will be, the best Handheld Zelda game, in my mind.
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Same here, l-o-s. The Minish Cap, that was the mediocre one. It took me over a month to beat, and that's why I haven't posted or even worked on my LoZ walkthrough since... was it, um, March? The Oracles were great, but LA is still better. Ages had the better story, characters, world, items, dungeons, everything, but I just liked Seasons better for some reason. And it was the Minish Cap... THAT was the game where I kept getting stuck.

Re: Best Handheld Zelda.

well, i have to agree (in a way) with all of you. L.A. had ok graphics but at the time, i considered them phenomenal. the music was great too. four sword was cool because it brought the multiplayer capability to the zelda series (although many didn't like it, i thought it was cool because it was new). the oracle games were awesome. i liked their storyline(s) and after using the linking password capability, a greater story unraveled. (it was nice to see ganon as a boss again). as for TMC, it has the greatest graphics for the LoZ portables to date as well as music (that's really catchy), it had something "clinchy" about it. every portable LoZ is "the greatest" but it depends on what you like such as the nostalgia of the "veteran" games, the rookie cool games, the amazing story-line games, whatever. Loz games are the greatest no matter what (although OoT may take the cake).

Re: Best Handheld Zelda.

I chose the Minish cap because it is amazing, at first I went right to click on DX because I didnt see MC haha, but DX is an amazing Zelda game, it is defninitly the bext next to Minish Cap. What I thought was so cool about minish cap was the graphics, it dealt with a WW style, if you know what I mean, like smoke and such it was in that same style.

Re: Best Handheld Zelda.

The only GB Zelda games I own is OoS, and the only other I've played is AlttP, so I have to say OoS is my favorite. I just didn't like A Link to the Past (plus it isn't an option in the poll). But even if I had played the others, OoS was still a very good game, and it'd probably be one of the top 3 best GB games to me. I loved every moment except one of the bosses. I forget his name, but he was a big, hairy ball that have to be hit with the spiked ball using the magnetic gloves. I HATED that guy.

Re: Best Handheld Zelda.

The Minish Cap was the only Zelda game that to me, had just the right difficulty.
Although, I prefer a really hard Zelda game that would last me ages. (Thats If I don't look on Gamefaqs every 2 minuets)

His name is Digdogger, and he also appeared in the original Zelda. Back on topic, I actually think Oracle of Seasons is the second-best Game Boy Zelda. I don't know why, I just didn't enjoy The Minish Cap as much as everyone else. The things that made it so "gr
