Favorite of the GBC handhelds?

Out of links awakening, seasons and ages, which was your favorite?

Personally mine is Link's Awakening because it is the first zelda game that I played and I fell in love with the series because of it.

LA for sure. I haven't played OoS but in OoA I felt like there wasn't a whole lot to explore. I also didn 't like the ring idea.

Re: Favorite of the GBC handhelds?

Links Awakening is ok, but it borrows off of Mario too much for me to really love it, but a continued game of OoA/OoS is amazing. until my ages pack went on the fritz, won't even boot and if it actually gets into the game without freezing at the capcom logo screen, it gets frozen and random objects apppear on the top and bottom of the screen. really mad eme mad because I was halfway through the cave of the heroes before it happened. the oracle games are my absolute favorute handhelds next to the two ds games.

OoA was my favourite. It felt like there was a huge world to explore, the dungeons were fun and challenging, and Veran is one of my favourite antagonists from the series.

I am sorely dissapointed that I never got to play the linked game. D:

The Oracle-games. I love them so much. I can't really decide which one out of those two I enjoyed the more. Although I must say that Link's Awakening DX is incredibly close on that first placement. Man, such spectacular games.
Oracle of Ages had great puzzels and pararell worlds, much like in A Link to the Past. Oracle of Seasons had great action and season changing, which was really really fun. And Link's Awakening DX, I can't even put my finger on that one. DAAYUUM!

Links Awakening without a doubt. Best Zelda game in the entire series.

Re: Favorite of the GBC handhelds?

Oracle of Seasons, followed by Link's Awakening, with Oracle of Ages in last place.

Seasons was very fresh with its season-changing mechanic, and it utilized the Game Boy Color's palette very well to distinguish between the seasons. Holodrum served as a great main overworld, and Subrosia was a cool separate section that you would slowly gain more access to as you got further in the main quest.

Link's Awakening was very charming and reminiscent of A Link to the Past, albeit on a somewhat smaller, more intimate scale.

Oracle of Ages was like Oracle of Seasons, except I didn't enjoy it as much due to that mandatory Goron Dance Hall mini-game, the duller color palette in the past (I know it was to make the past seem darker, but it was disappointing after experiencing Seasons' vibrancy), and the limitation of the Harp of Ages (you can't travel freely through the past and present until quite a while into the game; you have to keep track of the portals until then). Plus, gameplay mechanics based off of time had been done before, so Seasons was the more interesting of the duo.

Oracle of Seasons.

We've seen time travel done dozens of times before, but never seasons.

Also, the enemies offer a better challenge than in most of the games. Thanks to the absence of mercy invincibility, button mashing to take out a horde of enemies really isn't an option.

Seasons in an aesthetic and nostalgic sense. It's the most beautiful handheld game I know of.

LA has a vastly superior story/concept than the Oracle games though.

Re: Favorite of the GBC handhelds?

Link's Awakening, hands down. The game was so beautifully made, and one of the first games that had no real relation to the "Triforce wars". Just, everything about the game was beautiful.

OoA is seconded, though I sometimes can't choose between OoA or OoS. They're both so great.

Between LA and OoS, I would pick OoS. I have never played OoA.

Re: Favorite of the GBC handhelds?

For me it's hard to choose between Link's Awakening and Oracle of Ages.

Link's Awakening was one of the first games I played in the series and I love everything about it. But Oracle of Ages really added a lot to the series and was a blast to play through.
I'd still have to choose LA though for nostalgic reasons

Re: Favorite of the GBC handhelds?

Link's Awakening was my favorite, because they actually took a risk with the franchises story, something that has only been done twice to date (MM and LA.) I mean a game that takes place in Link's coma dream after a boat crash wow.

Although OOA/S were among the best games in the series, the GBC had awesome Zeldas.

Re: Favorite of the GBC handhelds?

I can't really decide between LA and OoS. I've played OoA as well, but it's more of a nostalgia thing. I had the other two and played them a LOT before I ever got my hands on Ages. (Although looking back on it it only may have been a year, maybe less. Time goes by so slowly when you're young...)

I guess I also preferred the Seasons mechanic over the Ages one, and LOVED exploring Subrosia. The counterparts in Ages were just kind of meh. As for LA, well, I can't really say. I just enjoyed playing it so much as a kid that playing it now brings back warm fuzzies, it's hard to point out why anything is objectively good.

That being said, I've never actually beaten any of them. x_x

Link's Awakening has a mini game where you win a Yoshi Doll. That alone makes it the best Zelda of all time.

Link's Awakening. One of the few stories that doesn't have any recurring characters, it doesn't make a difference in the timeline, and it's all the better for it. The revelation that Koholint was a dream blew my mind.

Re: Favorite of the GBC handhelds?

I got Link's Awakening DX in 1998, and I've beaten it many many times. The world is enjoyable and the game has a lot of personality.

This year, I got OoS for my birthday and OoA for Christmas. I haven't played but maybe 5 minutes of Ages, but Seasons was really fun. However, the ability to change seasons were not useful enough. Seasons were roadblocks, that's about it.

Other than all that, I liked Onox, and the villagers in OoS. In LA, I didn't care for Nightmare, but I liked the few human characters and the Animal Villager. Marin and Tarin were da bomb.

Link's Awakening.

You can't beat the music, atmosphere, and the tragedy of it all.
Except MOTHER 3 but that's not a Zelda game so... yeah
