I honestly think the opposite. Even for a 2D game, I really didn't find it challenging at all. Vaati did make a good villain (I'll give the game that much), but the game was very easy.
Now as for a full console title, of course it would need more dungeons. Just imagine playing
tMC in
tWW graphics. And in a full 3D console title, just imagine the adventures you could have while being small. Of course the "Minish Portals" would have to be expertly placed (even more so than what we saw in the 2D game), but I'd think more things could have happened in a full 3D game. Like what?
-Link could fly on the back of the bird he summons using the ocarina
-There could be more sections of the game featuring deathly sequences when you're small. I only recall 1 cat in Hyrule Town and 1 rain sequence in
tMC. Now imagine a whole 3D world at your disposal. You'd feel defenseless as a Minish-Link. The weather can be your blessing and your curse.
-Link's Gust Jar could have been used somewhat like Mario's F.L.U.D.D. pack from Mario Sunshine.
