Re: Handheld Zelda General Discussion

Oh boy, a General Spirit Tracks General Discussion!

I wanted to start this off by saying that ST is currently tied with TWW as my top favorite Zelda game! While it was freakishly easy (moreso than TMC) for me up until the Fire Temple or so (minus Phytops, who was so frustrating I was to kick it in the shin. I mean tentacle...thing.), the game is still really incredibly fun, and the funny moments between Link and Zelda (namely the "I'll stay here" dialogue) should probably be written down in a video game history book in the "best quotes" section!

Re: Handheld Zelda General Discussion

One of the most random moments for me was when I was playing Link's Awkening and I saw a racoon turn into a main character. I was just wondering what was going on.

Why would anyone hate you for that? I think majority of people would say LA is a great game, whereas PH and ST are getting more complaints from people. Not from all people of course, many love them as well, I certainly do. I love LA too, I just have a problem with it... I have it in French and muchly because I don't understand what it's telling me, I haven't finihsed the game. ^^' An English versio has been on the shopping list for a while.

I was thinking of adding some kind of personal top 5 list here, but I once again come to realise I'm no good at listing things best to worst or anything. I like the different handheld games for various reasons, and just can't say which one I'd like best. They're all pretty great.

Going for 3 heart challenge in LA

Should be a very interesting try! I think I will enjoy playing this classic over again with even harder stipulations.

Unfortunately, this is the Zelda that forces you to pick up the heart containers. Another Zelda game like that is ALttP I think.

Arrgh, I hated that. I too was so excited to do a 3 heart challenge after 3 years of not playing the game, and boom... what a disappointment. Although, if he has the original LA and not the DX version, he could use the glitch that accompanies the first level boss room, and glitch through the wall to the musical instrument. If he was willing to go back to the first dungeon each time to do it (taking into account that he turns the GB/GBC/GBA off), then he could do it, essentially. But that would be a lot of work, and I don't think it would be as rewarding.

Re: Handheld Zelda General Discussion

If you use a ROM, there might be a cheat thats meant to help, by being able to choose the number of heart containers you have, so you could reset it to three after you beat every dungeon. I guess thats kind of a hassle too, plus, it's like, illegal. Well, just a suggestion.

Re: Handheld Zelda General Discussion

Blah I know. Darn. LA was one of the more tough LoZ games. And one of the best. I was pumped to go for the 3 heart challenge.

Re: Handheld Zelda General Discussion

Anyone here except me love MC? I think it's really well done, contains all the elements that a 2D zelda needs and stays pretty close to the canon. I like the refreshing change from Ganondorf to Vaati and for once, Zelda has some proper importance in the story. Hooray

Re: Handheld Zelda General Discussion

Yeah. I picked the BLUE tunic, not the RED one. Haters gonna hate.

Seriously though, by that point I had the L2 sword, and making it more overpowered would have just made all the boss battles too short, not to mention that I'd still be losing tonnes of life DURING the dungeon due to my inability to stay out of trouble. Besides, it looks better IMO.

You guys are gonna hate me, but I despised ST, which repelled me from making contact with PH. I cringed when I saw them labeled as "action-adventure", because they were frikin neither.

On the other hand, I'm about halfway through LA. One of the best Zeldas in existence, second to ALttP as of now for me. Though that might or might not change when I play the Oracle series, more specifically "Oracle of Seasons" ("Oracle of Ages" being puzzle-based turns me off badly).

ST Spiral Staircase Theme

Every single note in the xylophone portion of the Spiral Staircase theme. You have no idea how many tries this took to get it right (about 30).

Boss Fun and instruments

you ever notice that in most Zelda games theres generally a really fun boss that you wish you could go back and defeat again and again? Like in PH it was the hammer boss from the Ancients (lotta people found it hard) really fun to hit yourself up into the air and hammer his weak spots and then you have to hammer the top of his head. Whether bosses are fun or not are totally up to the persons understanding of the fights and how they percieve the difficulty of the other bosses.

Ive also noticed that in one way or another ever game has an instrument for Link to use on his journey such as the famous Ocarina or maybe harp from OoA the conductors baton (if people know what that is) from WW or the stupid flute from ST (made me wanna punch a wall from how often i had to repeat the songs due to breathing like a maniac) doesnt it make you curious about the musical definition behind the games? Arent you curious about what kind of musical device will appear in Skyword Sword? Since its for the Wii ima go ahead and assume maybe a guitar or something close to that.

ST skeldritch and the fire temple boss were both fun. I liked the way to beat the both. But i'd have to say i like skeldritch more. He was one of my favourite bosses!

I liked Skeldritch until the second-to-last stage. He became very hard to hit. Byrne was an awesome boss, though.

Re: Handheld Zelda General Discussion

I still have trouble deciding which handheld game I prefer. It's a toss up between the Oracles and Minish Cap, since I enjoyed playing both more than the others.
As for the DS games, I found them a bit lacking.

Re: Handheld Zelda General Discussion

Minish cap has to be the best handheld. it beats both ds zeldas.
minish cap has done the oracle games in a better way from graphics and gameplay.
