Re: Handheld Zelda General Discussion

I finally invested in a flashcard, so a few days ago I started Phantom Hourglass for the first time.

I must say, I am really enjoying it!
EXCEPT
FOR THE
PART WHERE YOU HAVE TO GO BACK TO THE SAME TEMPLE ALL OVER AGAIN A THOUSAND TIMES.

I hope they don't make anymore handheld Zelda games like Phantom Hourglass or Spirit Tracks. They should leave the traditional controls on the handheld games and make the console controls more like skyawrd sword from now on.

Nintendo focuses on innovation, innovative gameplay, and using their consoles' and handhelds' potential.

As long as they continue to make handhelds with a touch screen, they're going to keep making games with touch screen controls whether you like it or not.

I don't think its as fun using a stylus to control Link, but that's my personal opinion. I know people who love the idea of the touch screen but some people, like myself, just prefer a more traditional control style like the earlier games. I can sit down and play Links Awakening or Minish Cap for hours but Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks I usually become annoyed with the stylus.

Re: Handheld Zelda General Discussion

The best things about PH and ST are the boss fights. They are some of the best in the series; I had so much fun with them. I didn't like PH as a game though, and I still need to beat ST, but ST isn't a bad game.

I agree though, I want either ALTTP re-made in 3d or a new game made with OoT' 3D's engine, so development goes quicker and we have less of a wait. Although they should modify the engine a little since I think the 3DS can do more than what OoT did, and I don't want the same exact gameplay. We'll see.

I also enjoyed Spirit Tracks' Bosses. The way they looked and played. I'm ashamed to say I've not played PH nor ALttP :\

Re: Handheld Zelda General Discussion

Hey guys, I just noticed something.

In Oracle of Ages you know how you have to bring order back to Symmetry City in the past by repairing the broken Tuni Nut? Tuni Nut is a palindrome, spelled the same way backward and forward. I never noticed that before.

Re: Handheld Zelda General Discussion

After 20 hours of furious stylus tapping and scribbling I have finished PH. Overall it was meh, but the boss fights definitely stood out. Though basic, the Temple of Wind boss was fun and really cool looking. I really enjoyed the crab boss fight as well. The 1st person view of the boss was very clever and different. The stone dude was really fun to fight too. The use of both screens in boss fights worked really well. Bellum was kind of disappointing, but the other bosses made up for that.

I love the nod to the controversial stylus controls found in the TotOK. One of the skeletons says that it's no fun not being able to play with the d-pad, but in hindsight he wish he wasn't so stubborn. So I guess if we complain about Zelda Aonuma will kill us?

Bolero Of Fire :O

So I was playing Zelda 3DS and I decided to whip the ocarina out and play some tunes. I started figuring out the notes for Dragon force - Through The Fire And Flames (I'm sure you all know that song)

Anyway I started to play the intro and then link starts playing the teleportation Bolero Of Fire tune, I was like :OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! The beginning notes are the same as the Through The Fire And Flames song.

Coincidence? I don't think so :O (but probably is) XD

Random thread over ;o

Re: Handheld Zelda General Discussion

I just got a Nintendo 3DS and am playing Ocarina of Time on it. I really like it and have little problem with the controls except the 3D setting gives me a headache after a few minutes and I have to turn it of.

Re: Handheld Zelda General Discussion

Have you tried turning it down a bit? I usually kept mine at about 3/4 for most of the time playing OoT3D. I never got a headache, but sometimes it was a bit much to look at the whole time.

The 3D effect in OoT is pretty extreme. I keep it at 1/2.

Re: Handheld Zelda General Discussion

I rarely bothered with the 3D on OoT3D myself, the only times I used it really was during cutscenes, the 3D looks amazing but when actually playing a game I generally find it to be a distraction.

Re: Handheld Zelda General Discussion

Every time I tried to shut it off, the visuals looked grittier and more jagged, and less impressive. I couldn't shut it off entirely for more than like 15 seconds. I really enjoyed the 3D visuals.

Re: Handheld Zelda General Discussion

So now that the free period has passed for Four Swords, does anyone know if it is still available for free or fora price?

I haven't seen enough good (new) games on 3DS to make me want to buy one (and I never upgraded to a DSi), but am very keen to one day be able to play the original Four Swords. I don't mind paying a little bit for it and it does seem a bit ridiculous if Nintendo went to all the trouble of porting and in fact upgrading this game to only remove it from their download servers, when they've been providing it free for quite a while.

So has anyone checked if its still available? Or if someone with eShop access check for me it would be greatly appreciated!

I just started playing Spirit Tracks and I found the stylus controls less annoying than I thought I would. My issue is with blowing into the microphone, especially when playing the spirit flute.
