N64 Zelda games for Ds?

Nintendo's already modified Mario 64 for the Ds, so is there a chance that Ocarina of Time and Majora's mask will be next? I personally think it would be awesome, but is it entirely possible? Or are the N64 Zelda games too long and big to play on the Ds?

This idea has been brought up more times than i care to count. I'm agaisnt it. OoT and MM are perfect they way they are they dont need to be redone or rereleased on the DS. I would much rather Nintendo work on new zelda games then spend time porting old ones.

Majora's Mask would suck with a D-pad and, besides, they're both out on Virtual Console already.

Although it would be neat there is some disadvantages to it though.. But you could take your favorite Zelda game on the go!

I would have to agree that the controls would be a little weird..but I still like the idea, because it's impossible to have TP on the Ds, so MM and OoT are the next best things.

I say make portable games still portable on the DSi by having LA, OoS, OoA, FS, and tMC. This is an obvious solution that Nintendo has probably have already thought about, the problem is, Nintendo tends to milk out as much money as possible. So if they won't put it on the DSi, they'll probably do it on the DSi2.

Other than those ports to the DSi (along with a few other major GB titles/franchises) I'd have to agree with ATRUEZELDAFAN and say that Nintendo should focus their time and effort making new Zelda games. The old ones will always be around, but we're always looking forward to the future.

It is possible, but unlikely. Mario 64 for the DS was made because the Nintendo DS needed some big start titles including a Mario one. But at that time there wasn't even the Wii and its Virtual Console around. There's no need for more ports of the N64 Zeldas, because they are already easily playable this generation. And there's no need for more Zelda titles on the DS, because we already have two. The exception would be all the GameBoy titles on some kind of Virtual Handheld service, because those games aren't easily playable today. About that:

The main reason, why they haven't launched GameBoy on the DSi yet, is because DSiWare sucks. Nintendo seems to be in some kind of marketing test phase with their DSiWare system testing all sorts of applications. A "Virtual Handheld" would totally interrupt that, because why would someone spend money on a Zelda clock, when he can have Link's Awakening? So, whenever they are done with what they intend to do with DSiWare, we will probably hear from a Virtual Handheld. The DSi is definitely capable of emulating GameBoy(Color) games and probably GBA games too and they would be stupid, if they wouldn't rerelease old GameBoy games. The demand is there. And in Japan they already started rereleasing Game&Watch games on DSiWare, which seems to be the first step in that direction.

Re: N64 Zelda games for Ds?

The day they release Zelda games on the DSiWare store, is the day I buy a DSi.

I'm against the whole "Make OoT and MM portable!" as it'd be a completely different experience, the experience which makes those games enjoyable : the control scheme. Oh, and I like playing console games on a T.V. screen. Not a tiny portable one.

Actually, that's a good point. The tiny screen on the DS would be lacking for the quality and experience of MM and OoT.

Re: N64 Zelda games for Ds?

The one thing I found somewhat awkward in OoT was the slingshot control, so that's one thing that might be improved by the DS's touch capabilities.

However, I don't think that's enough reason to port them. We've got them on the Virtual Console, they've already been re-released, in essence. It'd be pretty cool if they did re-release them, but I'd most likely not buy them.

If they did did ever release it for the DS, it might not be touch screen control. It might just be the regular controls, or both. I actually think it might be harder with touch screen, as opposed to just normal controls. But who knows? If they ever release it, I'd sure buy it! Besides, you can play the gamecube version on the wii, that's the same as getting it on VC. It'd be cool to have MM and OoT wherever you go!

This kind of idea would be warmly accepted... however, the controls would be rather wonky due to the lack of a stick...

I'd like it, and buy any port to DS ( playing those games with the Stylus sounds interesting ).

Ugh, another port plea. To be completely honest, without a joystick 3D Zelda games wouldn't exist. D-Pad? No bueno.

Re: N64 Zelda games for Ds?

Personally, I would like to see a graphical update to ALttP on the DS. Something like a 2.5D overhead style that FFIV uses. Of course they would probably change the story or add stupid crap to it like most remakes. But it would be awesome if they did that and stayed true to how it originally was. And the music would kick ass! Just my idea.

Re: N64 Zelda games for Ds?

Its possible, but you can already get those games off the virtual console, so there wouldnt be much of a point to it.

I'd say don't ruin the series and leave it as it is.

Re: N64 Zelda games for Ds?

Any format of Zelda will be eaten alive by gamers of some sort. Remember, there's a whole new demographic out there that have never played N64 games, and not everyone has an internet connection on their Wii. I'd think downloadable DSi zelda would be a big hit with the handheld clans.

Plus I don't think they could really built on OoT to make it better...or could they?

Personally I want to see Majora's Mask on there. OoT is a bit too big I think, but if they could do that one too, of course I be in favor. I think they would do alright with controls, but I rather they come out with something new before they start moving to porting or remaking the games.
