Used Minish Cap from eBay, broken? :-/

Hey, I'm new.

I am collecting the GBA games so i can play them for DS Lite.

I won a used Minish Cap off eBay. But i never owned a GBA game before.

It rattles, a lot, is that normal for a used GBA cartridge? I also won a brand new A Link to the Past GBA and it does not rattle. But i don't know what the normal wear and tear of a used GBA cartridge is.

Please help, because i would like to know if i have a broken cartridge.

The only way to know is to try it out, I've had a few cartridges that rattled on me in the past but they still worked fine. It can just be a piece of plastic broken on the inside or something more.

Usually game cartridges that rattle isn't a good thing.

Ive had a few game cartridges that rattled and still worked. Just try it out, if it dosent work attempt to return it.

and they are legally abidded to refund your money if it is broken,& if they refuse yo uhave the right to sue, i know i bought a card on ebay (thats supposedly worth 40$,in my opinion its just paper) & im about to sue the person for my money& /or the item in question lol

doesn't game boy color games and normal game boy games (the long ones) work on DS as well?

No. The GBA slot on the DS/Lite is too skinny to fit GB/C cartridges.

Actually, I believe the original DS could run older GameBoy cartridges.

Nope they dont. Its why i still have my SP. The DS Phat does not play GB or GBC games.

You need to be careful when buying GBA games on 'ebay' as there are quite a lot of bootleg GBA games around. The rattling shouldn't really be much of an issue but i will point out a few things which would define whether it real or a fake.

- Was it sent to you in a flat pack
- The game fits in but requires a bit more force then usual to push into the GBA slot.
- Is there a small notch where the PCB is visible. (You have to look under the cartridge)
- Look for the gold 'Licensed by Nintendo' Logo, It should be shining gold, NOT flat gold.
- The print art on the cartridge, does it look poor quality, it is very distinctive if you look closely.

If your cartridge has any of those then it's a fake.

My MC cartridge rattles, and it plays fine. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Also if you look on the page of the EBay seller you can see his record of feedback, and also you might find that he tested it or something.

It could just be a small piece of plastic broken, as you heard before, just try it out. I have several games that rattle for years and they work perfect.

I think you game should still work fine but you should:
a. test it
b. make sure it saves. This may sound weird but I think the internal game battery could be loose if this is the case the game won't save and you will have to start from the begining every time you played. There is nothing you can do other than get a new game if this is the case.

Always test games bought on eBay, I learned the hard way with OoA....

You can file a claim in the Small Claims Court.

I got conned on eBay when someone sold me an OoA cart with a dead save battery. Bastard.
Nintendo no longer replaces save batteries on GBC games.

Get this, he posted a comment on my page that said I tried to con him!

So, i just wanted to update this.

Turns out, the rattling is normal.

Been playing the game when i can, and it is great. Actually my favorite Zelda game i have played yet.
