Here's the system: anyone can be a teacher, just post your information and know-how here in this thread and it will be quantified into 'lessons'. These are just posts that say 'lesson' above them. To sum things up, here, new theorists can post questions about theorizing as well as general Zelda queries where they would only be answered by ZU's most experienced Zelda players and said experienced Zelda players can freely add to our trove of expertise.

That reminds me, everyone and anyone can be a teacher, as long as they know what they're talking about! I can't stress that enough; if you can't back up your teaching, it just clutters up a thread that's supposed be about the facts with complete ****. If, however, you don't get something in Zelda, you can just go here and ask the pros! That's what it's for, sillies!

EDIT: Ah alas, I can't make the first post more than 1000 characters. SCANDAL! Okay, I s'pose we'll just have to keep the tips in the same format or something? Just put your information in bold and we'll keep it at that until we can think of something else.

Okay, here's our first compilation of information; we'll experiment with going by 'lessons'. Since both our teachers have been talking about timeline placement, let's start with that. And I'll edit each lesson when we've got more comments and more teachers.

LESSON ONE: Timeline Placement

McDuck - Don't dive straight into things; researching your own timeline is a process of careful thinking and cross-checking. Always make sure you've certified your sources!

Melchizedek - I recommend not getting straight into timeline theorizing if you're new. Focus on some of the many other great aspects of the games, and in the mean time you will uncover the timeline that fits with you, instead of being daunted by timeline debates.

To begin with, browse the theorising forum to get an idea. Join in some conversations so that you become known. Friends are great in theorizing and this group helps.

Now to creating your own theory. Never rush into posting a theory. I spend a while researching it (at Zelda Wiki.org ) and then writing it up in a way that shows all the evidence and is easy to read. Take care in writing, and use in game evidence to support it.

You will never make it far in theorizing if you aren't willing to be open minded and assess theories with evidence. Finally avoid speculation, it's spelt Ganon, enjoy yourself and don't be swayed to the dark side of Ollathir's timeline.

Remember, if smallville boy says its GAME OVER, then its GAME OVER.

But seriously:

I think an important trait for theorising is to speak your mind, and its always good to jump into strange territory.
Alot of people think that their first idea is crazy, yet the craziest ideas often turn out as really good theories or points of discussion.

Also, taking the time to do some research is always good. Get to know alot about the topic your thinking about, and look at different ideas or scenarios.

Finally (for now ), talk to people. It's always good to get someone elses opinion on a theory before really getting stuck into it, so that you can gain more knowledge, and see how people view your idea from the outside, so to speak.
