I'm non-denominational, which, for those who may not know, means I do not belog to a group like the Baptists or the Lutherins or the Presbyterians. I am simply a person created by God doing my best to do what he created me, and everyone else, to do: bring glory to him, find joy in unoin with him, and bring others into union with him so that they may experience this eternal, infinite joy.
It seems to me that dividing the Christian church into denominations somewhat at odds with one another makes the church and Christianity unnatractive to those who do not know Christ. I think it is possible for Christians to disagree on the somewhat uncertain, less fundamental points of the Bible without breaking into denominations, and I think it would be beneficial for the church as a whole, for this group of believers on this site, and for the people who see us, if we worked to see past minor disagreements and united under our Lord Jesus Christ. In the words of Paul...
I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no divisions among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought. My brothers, some from Chloe's household have informed me that there are quarrels among you. What I mean is this: One of you says, "I follow Paul"; another, "I follow Apollos"; another, "I follow Cephas"; still another, "I follow Christ." Is Christ divided Was Paul crucified for you? Were you baptized into the name of Paul?
I Corinthians 1:10-13
Let us be united as Christians, not divided as Baptists or Lutherins or Presbyterians, so that the people who see us on this site may see us as a people joyfully united, want some of that joy, and talk to a Christian they know personally about their faith.
