Now that things are in down-time and there are no current threats to our lives, I think it's time to do something old-school. I hearby announce the glorious, spectacular, stupendous, outrageous, and generally supercalifragilisticexpialidocious contest:

The Sages of Despair Creativity Challenge 09!

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to make something for the group, be it a new banner, theme song, short story, logo, painting, creed, drawing, Poetic Edda, or any other form of art. I will not be allowed to enter, as I will be chief judge of the contest should there be any ties, but everyone else, council members included, may enter and then vote on entries once applications have concluded.

I give no constraints other than the work be themed or geared towards the group. Entries will remain open until there are a decent amount of contestants.

That said...have at it!

Even if you don't think you have graphics skillz, you should still enter! I'm working on something right now and hope to have it done in a day or two.

Not to allow myself to win the contest or anything, the lack of entries inspired me to make something.

That is so awesome! I think it should be the new group logo.

Perhaps instead of saying, "The Temple of Despair" it should say, "The Grand Temple of Despair". Have you tried out anything for a border? I'm not saying that it needs one. I'm just saying it might look better. One more thing, maybe you could get the triforce to fit somewhere in there.

i like it! but i dont know about adding the Grand temple to it unless you make the picture bigger or the words smaller

Sha. I messed with a few things like borders, but the arrangement of the colors make it hard to do anything like that and keep it looking good all around. Still a work in progress, though.

One thing I did try was putting a faint imprint of Lord Golgoth's avi onto the moon, and it looked alright, but it detracted from the rest of the pic. One thing I really want to do with it is make as many little, subtle easter eggs hidden deep in the pic, but not so much that it looks cluttered.

Hmmm...that gives me an idea for a contest....

Can you show us the original image or images that you used?

Have you tried making a twilight version with floating black squares?

Sure. Here's the original:



All I did was add some colored screen layers. I did draw the moon by hand, but everything else is just using gradients and layer techniques. Pretty basic - only took me about half an hour.

That puts things in perspective. Have you tried putting lightning or a dragon silhouette in the sky to make it look more sinister?
