Which game or games have you done the three heart challenge on? ALso did you use any restrictions such as: no upgrades, shield, etc.

I have done it for OoT. I am currently working on it for TP. In the OoT run i used the Game FAQ challenge. I highly recommend doing it!
Here are the restrictions:

I beat ww without upgrades or fairies. and collected everything post ganondorf battle

I have finished tMC, without getting any carrying abilities upgrades. No extra bottles (and no heart replenishing abilities in the one you have of course). No special skills, etc..
Pretty much as minimalist as it can get.
I did however, get the boomerang as I was playing without a guide and had not played for a long time, so i thought I needed it. Never used it to stun an enemy though.

Currently working on TP, as minimalist as it can get. Am entering Hyrule castle, will post to say how I did. (cave of ordeals is what I will consider the real challenge here)

Just to update on my cave of ordeals minimalist.

First try: Room 38 - Freezards killed me.
Second try: Reached room 39 with all 3 hearts... Darknuts massacred me.
Third try: Reached room 48 with 4 bombs left and about 10 arrows. 2 hearts and 1 quarter. I was no mach for the Aeralfos. I was quickly brought down to 1 quarter of a heart. Then I managed to stay alive enough to actually kill one of them. Accidentaly shot the ball and chain instead of using as shield... and cost me the game.

Ouch That sucks

Yeah. I'm sure I would have messed up against a Darknut either-way. I'm busy with university now so I might not try again for a while. Or I might...

I had an old three-heart challenge tread for TP a long while ago. Needs fixing up, but it was a lot of fun when I did it. Fighting Darknuts was epic, as two hits will take you down (for the first half of the battle). But man, two Darknuts got annoying.

my fourth attempt in cave of ordeals was a fail.
My fifth attempt...
Reached room 48 with 2.5 hearts. Got a single hit from an aeralfos, and finished the room with little problem after defeating one.
Room 49: I jumped down and got hit immediately. then, as I was fighting the first darknut, the other 2 were alerted. That was a game over for me.
Any tips from anyone to finish the last room? I think I was as far away from the darknuts all the time, so trying to fight one by one is tough. A strategy for fighting 2 or 3 at the same time would be amazing.

Edit: Next run, reached room 47 with all 3 hearts, and ended in room 48 with 2.5 hearts. stupid rats.
Anyways, didn't pull out the ball and chain correctly twice, which cost me 1 heart. Then, received a hit by the darknut while finishing of the last aeralfos. Proceeded to destroy the darknut with half a heart.

I don't know if I was confused about last run, or if I was simply terrible at saving ammo this time, but had no bombs left.
Dropped down with caution, and didn't get hit, however, because I was scared of alerting the other darknuts, I did the stupid mistake of trying to avoid a hit by sidestepping instead of backflipping. the darknut did a side slash instead of a downward swiped and died before even scratching his armor.

I am great at not getting hit throughout the dungeon now though... maybe next time...
