Let's discuss the old-school titles: FFI through FFVI. Which was your favorite? Mine, personally, was VI.

Mine was IV until Cecil turned into a Paladin. I am playing VI at the moment and it is pretty good.

Thinking back on FFVI, I really do see how overrated it is. By no means was it a bad game; it's still my favorite old school Final Fantasy title. However, it has a few key problems.

About halfway through the game, the plot suddenly stops. It's all "collect enough characters to fight the final boss." For a story-based RPG, that's never a good route to go down. In addition, while Kefka was an awesome villain, he really isn't as godly as everyone makes him out to be.

Final Fantasy VI rates as my favorite old-school FF, and as my favorite game of all time. I just think this game had the best balance of story, characters, gameplay, and music in the series. FFIV comes second, mainly because it was my first FF, but also because it was fairly difficult. I really can't the first 3, as they are a bit archaic and hard for my tastes. Finally, I really like FFV. Yeah, it's plot isn't stellar, but the jobs and the silly moments in the story are what make this game amazing to me.

Wihle FFV was definitely one of the weaker entries plot-wise, the gameplay system was one of the best out of the old-school titles. I prefer open customization over class systems, but FFV's class system was enjoyable.
