There was a sequence in which Light and L fought hand to hand, I can't clearly remember the out come, but I think L was the more bad ass of the fighter with his intense kicks.

He learned capioera, a brazilian martial arts form that, from what I remember, assumes that you are fighting someone stronger than yourself, thanks to Naomi Misora. He should be the better fighter.

Light seems pretty agile, and an ample fighter though, It's true they were chained together for the entirety of the duel, meaning L couldn't really get any from him, inevitably allowing Light to land some hits, so I assume if they weren't chained together L would have wiped the floor with him

Death Note is a series with little physical fighting. The real battle is mental, like a game of chess. It's kind of weird. Since Light was studying to be a detective, he probably saw L as a hero or something before he gained the Death Note. When he was without his memories and working with L, he didn't treat him like a celebrity though. Maybe it was because he could keep up with L.

It's amazing to believe that they would be working side-by-side if Light never got his hands on the Death Note.

I would say Light totally should have just kept his memory wiped, but I won't because, then he would have lived doing work for the police and such with L but like, his soul still wouldn't have been able to go to heaven or hell, so I assume that place is worse.

I believe it was stated that, when Ryuk told Light about the whole Heaven/Hell issue, Light realized that there really was no heaven or hell, in which Ryuk said that he was right. The scene was unique to the manga, I believe.
