Hey, I'm a newcomer I'm an atheist because I never really believed in an omnipresent being and it always made more sense that things just live as they are, and that it's best to live your life the way you can and not have to spend so much time devoting yourself to a higher being. I also need things to be explained with proof, so I tend to gravitate towards evolution, and I'm fine with knowing that we don't know how the Big Bang occurred, since that's better to me than creating a reason ourselves.

Hi I’m new to this group and just thought I’d introduce myself. I actually do believe in God, but please hear me out before you write me off as a spammer or religious nut bent on converting people.

I grew up surrounded by people who believe in the bible and as a result my experience with people who have a different point of view has been very limited. A fact which I think is one of the bigger tragedies of religion today.

So why am I here? To listen mostly and, when prompted, reply. I don’t expect anyone to change because of me; I simply want to hear a different point of view. Also, this is the only social group that talks about beliefs that doesn’t make me feel as though my latest meal is clawing its way up the back of my throat.

If my presence here causes too much trouble/controversy, let me know and I’ll leave.

I judge the laws of the world based on what is right. I see the possible. I don't ignore what I don't believe. I look at the possibilities. I cannot know truth. I can use logic to decide what is more likely if it is brought before me. I sift out the garbage, and find ideas. I don't believe in anything, I just enjoy thinking about it. I enjoy understanding things. About all kinds of things.

Therefore, I have a lot of common sense. That is a common term, but it really isn't very common. It takes somebody very wise to have total "common" sense. I have not studied the world long enough to know all there is to see, so I am not that wise.

I came here for ideas to sift through.

I never really beleived in God. People spend so much time worshipping an unproven of existance God when they could be doing so many other things. Also, while I'm here, does anybdoy remember that thread about..Conservapedia was the name?
An almost quote about Atheist: "Atheists have no God, and therefore no morals, so are less likely to give to charity." We all know that's bull.

Because it's so ridiculous and the people who believe in it should be executed for their stupidity.

Don't you think that's a bit harsh? It's ignorant of them, but I don't beleive they should be executed.
