Firstly, this probably belongs in either Graphics or Spriting, not in the miscellaneous ol' artwork thread.

Secondly, I'm not going to lie-- this is one of the most horrendous things I've ever seen.
I mean... well, phhh.
I don't even need to say why it's horrible.

Doesn't matter-- that just makes people soften the blow.
Of course things kids make aren't going to be any good. Nobody's fault, I just think that things that might lead to poor art skills should be discouraged as soon as possible (here, being things like sprite copy/pastes). I'm lucky I didn't turn out to be one of those kids that goes into college for art and still insists on copying anime.

So I tend to discourage things that I'd consider dangerous to artistic growth.

Aside from that, if the person in question isn't artistically inclined at all and just makes things like that for fun, that's a whole different story entirely.
But what am I to assume when something's posted in the art forum?

She's ten, dude. discouragement can be dangerous too. You can give advice without doing that.

Without turing this thread into an argument--heaven forbid-- I probably should have added something like "try drawing your own thing instead of copying and pasting sprites".

Also, how in the blazes was I to know how old she was?

Well, I like it. It could use improvement, but it's a good start.

The first step would be to make the Link sprites have transparent backgrounds, so that they blend more. And then, they look pixelated (sp?), so I'd look into fixing that. Then look more into grammar and such to make it perfect. It'll look a lot better with these things done.

How did you think I figured it out?

and because you never know, perhaps you should think about your responses a little more before posting?

regardless now you know. And now you have the opportunity to rethink. It's ok that you didn't know, but that's exactly why you have to be careful with these things.

I agree with Tonchiki. This is just... beyond atrocious.

Now, to explain why this thing is a pile of goat excrement.

First of all, is this supposed to be a wallpaper, or a sprite comic?

Secondly, the sprites just look like crap, mainly due to the fact that there's no transparency, so the sprites stick out like a sore thumb due to that brown box around them. It looks hideous.

Thirdly, the grammar. Regardless of whether this is a sprite comic or wallpaper, the grammar is absolutely atrocious. I know you're probably in fourth grade or something, but surely by then they've taught basic capitalisation, punctuation, and apostrophe usage. If not, the quality of primary school education sure has gone downhill.

So yeah, it sucks.

You can definantly be a lot nicer. I do have to say, Tonchiki, at least you didn't call it names. Silver, I have half the mind to give you an infraction right now. For petesakes, she's ten, and I shouldn't have to explain why you need to be a bit easier on her. Good greif.

Don't let me see anything like this again, no matter how horrible the art may seem.
