Signature/Small Work Showcase [V.IV]: Long Live Pterodactyls!

I think it's time for a new Showcase. Rules from last thread copied.






Welcome to the S/SWSC [V.IV] and please follow all the rules below.

- Please put all images under 600 by 600 pixels here.

- Each work should be commented on twice before a new work is posted, this way each work can get it's fair share of criticism.

- Criticism more then praise is encouraged here. Just saying "Looks great!" does not do it. At least say "Looks great, but..."

- Please wait two people before posting a work again. As in: You --> Them --> Them --> You

- You may post only ONE signature at a time. Posts containing more than one will be deleted, however multiple versions of the same signature are allowed if you wish to ask which has, for example, a better border.

Hey, Black, did you get permission from a mod to make a new thread? I'm pretty sure it's at the choice of the mod to decide whether or not there's need for a new Showcase thread. Only becasue if we let every member do it, then there'd be a lot of new Showcase threads.

But yeah. I'll just sticky this one and lock the other one, but you should maybe ask a mod about this next time (unless you already did <_<)

Ryoma- It looks pretty good. The render blends nice and has nice effects. Work on the text a bit.

I was hoping we were going to hit 100 on the other one. Ryoma, White background behind girl with white shirt makes for bad focal and hurty retinas. the effects don't really blend in too well either.

Err, what is it?
Ditch the text or re-work it. As it is, it doesn't go well with the atmosphere of the sig at all. Go with a red-ish color.

I like the dimensions you used more than most of the signatures I've seen you post.

I really really would rather you didn't make Official threads again without a mod's permission. It confuses me. ;__;

The right is too empty, and the orange thing in front of him seems out of place.


goddanit why can't I spell

Ryoma: Tone down the effects a little, don't be afraid to erase bits and pieces.
Brad: The text kills this piece. Otherwise, it's awesome.
Dusk: I like everything except the strange little lines.


Yet another generic Mario sig...... Not sure if I should kill the text. I tried to place it with that Rule of Thirds or whatever.

The blue woosh line looks really out of place. There really is no other blue like that in the signature. MAybe use some gradient maps? It would also look better, if maybe you smudged the blue line to make it blend more. You shouldnt take out the text, just make it better. Or maybe but some C4Ds there instead. BUT in my opinion, the flow is really good.

Actually, the blue thing was part of the render. And I used several gradient maps (probably not correctly though).

your coloring is off; make sure you try and choose colors that complement your focal. your choice of effects simply seems like random abstracts thrown everywhere, and the text could desperately be taken out. your subject doesn't blend into the signature, and seems to be slapped on top. not too good, bro. maybe try putting some effects over him and putting him into the composition, because as of now it seems like you threw a conglomerate of abstracts over a background, popped in the plumber, and called it a day.

The Gmaps must not have been very good...
Here is a tip for renders and text. make sure that your render and your text is never the last thing you put on. Actually, your render/stock should probably be the first thing you put on.

It's pretty nice and clean, but why do some of the circles look like they have strokes on them?
