text is very difficult and very hard to get right. Most people tend to slap some text on their signature as an afterthought, usually to label the signature as their own by pasting their username on it. This is completely unnecessary and distracts from the artwork in the signature. Text done right is text that is actually a part of the artwork, rather than being thrown on top of it.
most of the time, the best thing to do is just avoid using text. That way you can show off the artwork in your signature, rather than distract from its beauty. As someone previously mentioned, how many great pieces of art have you seen with text on them? If any, it was because the text was a part of the artwork.
here are a few examples of signatures that I have made that, in my opinion, have well executed text. Notice that in every example, the text is an intricate part of the artwork, instead of simply being placed on top for identification. Some of these signatures are based entirely on text, in fact.
