Re: Majora's Mask Cover Art

It's not a completely unattractive design but it doesn't function as a cover art very well at all. For one, the visual path you follow to read "The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask" isn't very intuitive; your eyes are moving from one side of the screen to the other, changing the direction of reading. And, despite how you've coloured the letters according to the background, which is clever, it's still not very easy to read. It certainly doesn't stand out as the title of a game on a box should. The way things fit together (Majora's Mask between the spikes, LoZ running from the edge of the screen to the edge of the mask) is nice, but sticking to that so strictly has detracted from the design overall.

My main problem is with the title, though I think there is more you could do with the image as well. I'm not sure what suggestions to give, but work on it and it could be pretty great.

I've just found The Gaf Collection thread on NeoGaf, I assume this is where the idea came from.

No offense, but it looks terrible.

It hurts my eyes when I look at it, it's so bright and grainy. It's also very over contrasted in places.

I think it would be better if I didn't have to blink several times whenever I look at it.
Looks overly contrasted and 'color halftone'd'.

Like Sam said above, it fits well together, but the text just seems a little slapped on.

I like that one. The smuding and stuff all fits in well, although the grey bits look a little out of place. The font choice is good, and I like the simplicity of it, although the back is perhaps a little too empty.

I had another version where there was no text on the back at all that made it seem less bottom heavy. I'm not sure if I liked it or not. Happy you like it, though.

Re: Majora's Mask Cover Art

Change the font on the back. It looks fine for the title, but is too heavy to be appropriate for a whole passage of text.

The light behind the girl needs to wrap around her alter more, to give it a more distinct shape. If you make the alter shorter so that you can see the corners of it in the light, that would look fine. The negative space on the back looks great; maybe move the image up a little, but the main reason it looks bottom heavy is the bold font.

The composition of the front looks mostly great, but that title in that triangle looks wrong. Play about with the placement of the title.

But it's a nice cover overall, I have to admit. Maybe we should have our own "ZU Collection" Covers thread

Re: Majora's Mask Cover Art

I should probably do more on this concerning the side and the back but at the moment I just want to show the cover.

Re: Majora's Mask Cover Art

Black batman looks cool; not sure if it was intentional, but the way it contrasts with the lighter surroundings makes it look like the Bat is made of Darkness. I think you could have done more with that, make Batty from negative space, have his cape flow into a black night, something along those lines.

Overall, don't like this one whole lot. Font looks scrappy. Building's look overly plain. Background looks unnattractive. No twisted Arkham imagary, such as gargoyles and the like. I can see it's trying to be a minimilist cover, but this style worked far better with SotC, where it fitted in with the themes on the game.

I'm going to give this one a go. I think we should turn this into a competitive graphics if it picks up.
