First Siggi I've Made!!!

What do you think?

Its alright.Around the render its kinda bad but pretty good for a first.What program do you use?

I used GIMP. It was sharper when I'd made it... But I had to convert it to JPEG for some reason it I couldn't upload it to Photobucket without doing that...

I see yeah when you save it type in the name and .png then export it.

I think it should.But I'm not really sure.I was just told by Hyrule to save in .png and hes pretty smart with gimp.

Yup yup, .png is generally the best file type for images.

Now, going on to things other then the quality, for a first try, great job. Much better then most people do. Keep working at it. And now, here are some things that could've been done better:
1. Text color. The sig is green. And you picked red. Alot of people make the mistake of trying to make the text stand out by using annoyingly bright colors. Rather then red, try using a darker shade of green, or something more fitting so that it'll blend better.
2. The background is rather blank. It looks like the thing that generates random clouds. (Sorry, don't know what it's called.) But it creates a rather bland and unexciting pattern.
3. Save it as .png next time, as was already stated.
4. Cut out the image more carefully. See the white specks around the person's head? Try cutting closer to get rid of the white, so that it'll blend better with the background. This generally involves zooming in and working slowly around the edge of the image with the eraser tool, or something similar.
5. There's no border. Although, that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Overall, great for a first sig. But there's still lots of room for improvement.

Thank you! I didn't cut out, I used the brush. And yes I did use the "Sand Dunes" thingy... I'll take all this into account from now on!

I'm gonna need to find some tutorial for GIMP...

Yup, I teach Gimp over in the Graphics School. If you're interested, there's a link in my signature.

As for the signature, if you did that without looking at any tutorials, I congratulate you. Gimp's pretty confusing at first. There are still some problems with it, like the white pixels around the image.
