Signature/Small Work Showcase [V.II]

It doesnt matter how many posts per page you use, either way its still double what anyone else but Shroom has posted.


Alright, 2 comments, rate my current signature -

very nice, moop. The darkness is nicely offset by the colourful sparks.

the only gripes i has with it is the text, mainly the placement. Its almost falling off the edge, id move it in closer to Slash himself. And maybe align it a little bit more with the guitar neck's direction.

Overall, nice. Iwas gonna say that the border didnt fit, but its good actually. Maybe a yellow to fit the theme though? badass anyway.

Not asking anyone to rate this (actually, whoever gives it its second rating, rate this one instead).

I really this one, Moopeh. It has nice colors and good flow. :]
The bottom left corner seems a bit too bright, though. Especially his right hand - it looks as though the quality went down there.
Other than that, though, it's a fantastic piece. <3 The sparky-things around him.

Can someone critique my current set? I made it in GIMP, with the paintbrush tool. :3 (Though the moles freak me out)

Moop: the text is much better. however, id probably go with the original border, my advice was probably misplaced there

yeh, much better.

Tsu: get rid of the mole. Too big and obvious compared with the other colours. Lovely work though. Perhaps a little too blurry? id sharpen the lips if thats possible. nice though, very well done, simplicity like it should be.

Why does everybody call Yamari stony? Knock it off, its obvious she's sick and tired of it. I'm sick and tired of it too...

Samus: I like it a lot. The swirls look great and the background is very nice. The only thing I would suggest is to erase the swirls over the girl's cheek. They look tacky there. Other than that, good job. :]

'twas two comments, so here's my Zelda sig redone.



I thought I'd try saving it as .bmp since Photobucket takes that too, but when I uploaded it, it automatically changed to .jpg. Strange, yet the sig looks just the way it did in PS 5.0. Also, I used parts of Ed's tut to do it and imitated the gradient map effect by messing with the eraser on gradients I put on. I don't know why I didn't think of doing that before.

It looks like a bad Ed sig. >_>

Probably your best, good job I guess.

I was scrolling through this thread- and just had to say that I <3 MOOP'S SIGNATURE.

I'm in awe of this one. I'm happy

That's not too bad. It looks pretty nice; I like the blue-green glow it gives off, though maybe you should try lowering the brightness a bit. Other than that, the renders don't seem to quite blend in and the background seems like you've brushed it a bit too much, but overall I like the look of it. Also, just one other thing. The text, I think you can ditch the text. Besides those things, I think it's quite a nice attempt. You're definitely improving, though honestly I don't think this is your best yet. Keep trying, yeah. ;]

It looks a teeny bit too bright, Sugarpoultry. Like Ed said, the text could go, and.. pretty much just what Ed said, I dunno how much more I can say, really.

Ah, but that's the problem with Ed's tut, it looks exactly like something Ed would pop out. It's excellent, don't get me wrong, but it's too... cookie-cutter-- Ed's style.

I do, however, like the way that the Sonic render is facing the side rather than the front (or is aigned or whatever), I think it gives a sort of disproportionate feel that some sigs need to give them some originality.

DO NOT USE MORE THAN ONE STOCK. Sorry but that is just a rule of thumb. It doesn't give it a focal point, because there's two. If I were to give you advice it'd be to take out Master Chief and crop it for Samus. Then blend her in more.

Constructive crit please? I know I'm no pro but I'm rather fond of this one

I think you'd drift more to the scrapbooking area of sig making. Text is nice but there's no light and the pic is just there. Yeah, scrapbooking would be good for you. It's a nice style I got into for a while, it consists of brushes and pics put together, I'll try to find examples.

That was the point, DSL9. I was following Ed's tut to do that. I plan to make another sig without looking at the tut this time to practice. That's what Ed suggested I do and what I already had in mind, lol.

Pani: As I said in Ed's tut thread, you did really good on that sig. Sonic is blended in very well and it flows nicely. Good job. :]

Keep in mind that this is a request for someone. He asked for this... I usually only put one in my sigs. I'm really glad I'm improving though.

You're starting to sound like someone else we all know and love.

Just because they ask for it, doesn't mean you have to go strictly by their standards- if the way you want to do it helps make the signature look better, then do it- I'm sure they won't mind a better looking signature than the one they requested. Really, just consider their request as more of like, a guideline for you to casually follow. :3
