Well thats good to know.

Well, the effects in the background are ok, honestly looks like something I have in my library, just a regular stock background with text on it. Nothing too special. I actually do like that font though, what is it?

The font's a trade secret, I'm afraid ma'am.

Or it could be called AvantGarde BK. Google is a nice tool (or Live.com or Yahoo.com or whatever you use).

And I thought you said the crit was going to be harsh.

Also, I said why the text on your piece is annoying. It covers half the sig. That's why.

Re: Signature/Small Work Showcase [V.II]

This is awesome. Yami does raise a valid point, text is one of the most influential parts of a signature.

I have to admit, Sugarpoultry and Yamari, you ladies are acting like children. So, someone doesn't like your work. So, they have different views on how a piece can be good. So, they want you to know the proper technical jargon. It's
humiliating, it's embarassing, but damn it, shut the **** up! You didn't post your work here so that you can show it off, that's what your own signature is for! You posted it here so that you can get people's honest opinions of your work, whether they be nice, or not! I'm tired of sugarcoating what I say around here so that I don't make people sad, and I know a few people who feel the exact same.

You want my opinion? I don't see why either of you two are graphics teachers. Your work isn't original at all, and you don't respect each and every piece of work that you make! Who gives a **** if it's for a request, that person chose you to make it... they could have just as easily requested from, say, Shroomeh, who would've at least put some Goddamn effort into it.

Yami, I love the different sizes and shapes of the text, and the coloring of the background. Good job.

From the continuation of arguing, ad the fact my post was the last on the page, I'm assuming now of you read the part I edited in, and before I go to sleep, I'm going to repost it, in a vain attempt to restore order.

When psychologists and education experts say education today is overly girlycuddly and has no relation to reality (does not prepare people for the real world), they can't be all that wrong. You help prove that point here.

Don't people normally manage to undo their "accidental doings" by then finding a less cribbed name?

Haha, I just wanted to add that my last comment was a little off on the timing because I'm typing from something that's not a computer. I would delete it, since
most of the arguing's over, but it is my honest opinion.

Like I said, being rude about critique is a horrible way to influence them to be a better sig maker. You don't see Cobra going around being a prick to everyone who posts their works. Yet he is probably the most influential sig maker and critique maker this thread has.

I smell another style Nazi. Just leave us be! The point of being a graphics teacher is to TEACH. And we do it with positive criticism. Maybe you don't know, but I'm actually an ed major close to graduating and teaching high school. I know a thing or two about teaching, unlike some of these "kids."

I have a much more popular sig shop on SWF which is where I made that sig originally, I just changed it to Luigi later FYI.

This thread makes me sick. I notice a lot of "favorites" happening.

Yami, I love the different sizes and shapes of the text, and the coloring of the background. Good job.
Who said anything about Yami not liking our work? I was simply defending sugarpoultry and her arguments. Yami complained about the text when sugarpoultry specifically said to ignore it. I never said anything about my own work, nor was sugarpoultry arguing about hers. It's Yami's ****ing attitude that got us annoyed, not his critique.

Sugarpoultry: Agreed. This thread is making me sick as well, and favoritism seems to unfortunately be a common issue.

Re: Signature/Small Work Showcase [V.II]

I'll post what I said to Yami in the clan thread:
You don't have to go around saying, "Make your own stuff geez...." Well maybe we can't? "Find your own style." Well, maybe we are trying? You can't expect these things to happen over night and when we make something new. The point of that thread is critique and post, critique and post.... there doesn't need to be anything else.... good grief....

We'll gladly accept critique, maybe even take it with a grain of salt, but we'll hear it, ignore it, whatever... you don't have to thrust your doctrine at us. Thats what the freakin' graphic homerooms are for!

I can say the exact same points back to both of you.

My attitude? You have a problem with the way I give criticism? Okay, take it to PM then.

sugarp: sugar, darling, honey, since when did popularity come up in this thread?
yamari: dear, bunny, sunflower, you have seemed to have gotten the wrong end of the stick with my posts. Please re-read them, or do you want me to clarify? PM.

Now, as I started this *****fest, I think it's only right to say - discussion over.
Any beef? PM.

Edit: This slipped under my radar, and I might as well answer.

You act as if this is a one-to-one thread. This thread is made for discussion. Where were you when the roots of this thread started? I honestly don't remember you, nor do I give a crap. Once I said make your own stuff. And in that regards, I referred to the 3D renders, which I personally feel are getting overused to the core and I felt mentioning that it would be nice to see some of you start making your own. But no, you had to take that the wrong way, take a U turn, stop along the road for some ammunition, and then you fired without thinking twice.

"Find your own style" yes, I feel that is important. Copying can only take you somewhere so much, and from this is where you need to develop. Never once did I say "stop doing this, you're doing it all ****ing wrong, stop making signatures/graphics, you're exactly the same as him/her" but rather I gave advice so that they can start to take a different route from making the same cookie cutter signature.

"Critique and post, critique and post". Wow, never once have I read something so selfish. You think this is a me-me-me thread, when really it should be made for discussion. The old signature chit-chat threads were made for this, but it seems the 2-comment-communism seems to have railed this into a selfish thread.

There is nothing wrong with making a statement on here, but when you take it the wrong way then really, look at your own posts and then judge.

Over.

I refuse to pay any attention to the drama llama in this thread and will post a remixed version of a signature I made a bit back.

edit- nowait lol.

Moop, I don't like it. Weegee is damn sexy, but the cut is really grainy/pixelly. I like the background, though.

Uhh, render is very LQ, BG is far too blurry, blending is nonexistent, text is pretty bad and it sticks out too much.

Gonna be even meaner and say there isn't really anything I like about it. X.X So yeah, tutorials are your friend.

Blarg, you added it late, anyway... Unless you made that render yourself I really wouldn't reccomend using it, it's really LQ looking. Blending on the gun is rather off IMO and the text is just... kinda there. It looks unfinished, to say the least.

It's not even cut. It was stock from a hentai picture. The gun's blending is off due to the stock ending at that point, and I can't draw guns.

Thanks, though.
