Re: The Spriters Hangout V.4: All Spriters Welcome!

Hey, contentisise! Or, yeah...

Anyway, Ameena'srites got me to make my own in RSE style! The hair is actually, not from Ameena's Sprite, but from Desperate Milotic of Serebii Forums. These Sprites are supposed to be a Pokemon version of Kisiro's Human Form.

Before people start thinking it's Sprite Theft, due to Teh Roxxorz being on it, that is my Serebii Forums username. Lord knows I should have kept with R&K to stop confusion.

The trainer sprite looks really weird. But the overworld ones are really good, even though the hair looks weird in the front poses. But tecknically, I inspired you, theres a first!

Re: The Spriters Hangout V.4: All Spriters Welcome!

The Jack edit is really good. For an edit. But good job. Seriously. I've never played Jack n' Daxter. I don't really want to but your edit looks just like him.
The link sprites are good. I counted 6 different poses in all, plus 2 blurry swishes. Most of it is just different combinations of his weapons. It's really good though. Looks alright. The slash effects might not look very good in a comic, however, and I'm not sure how they'd use the hookshot sprites. Although I admit my hookshot sprites are about the same as far as being incomplete. Here's link so far:

By the way I made a gigantic sheet with every different color of him on it (green red blue black white) and they each drink their own color of potion (white drinks milk and black drinks root beer). But it's much too big to upload so I'll just give you the unmultiplied version. It does have a lot of fluff (the megaton hammer is complete fluff) which means that you made extra poses and only changed some small thing, like what weapon. The hammer smashes are the same poses as the sword slashes, only I took out the sword and added a hammer. I did do some extra work on the swoosh, but it's still fluff. Anyway, I like my new sword swipes and I like the Root Beer that Lurrrre! made.

HZ, you're freakin me out man. Take it easy and let the kids play with theire little comics, okay? Locking threads is fun and makes you feel good about yourself, I know, but you could poke someone's eye out with an ego that big and it's getting annoying that we have a resident serial thread locker.

OMG, it's GoldStud!
You Link sprites are coming along nicely. I'm guessing you're spending your free time on those sprites instead of the requests in your shop. Tis okay though.
The hammer looks blurry. I'm not saying it's bad but it doesn't match the way the sword looks.

Part Five of Zeldish is Coming!

It's strange, but some of my latest comments, like in GS's new comic, and The Adventures of Mr. Fish and Penguin seem to be gone. If someone out there is deleting my posts, I would really appreciate it if they would send me a PM telling why. I'm not a spammer and my posts stay on topic. That being said, if someone who wished to delete my post sent me pm about a specific post they wish to delete, I would edit it to fit demand and send an apology to the moderator. It angers me a bit to visit a thread the next day and not see a reply. I would rather edit my posts than to see them deleted.

In other news, I am working on the ending of part five of Zeldish. Things have slowed because I have spent less time on the computer due to problems with my grades in school. I will hopefully have part five up before Christmas. And if not, you can put coal in my stocking!

Is it me, or does it seem Scott really, really, really hate Sprite Comics? Doesn't he know some of the greatest games (like ALttP) used "those little gems".

Goldstud, can you link the colored sprites of that sheet? And those are really good. You just seem to alternate between left-handed and right-handed, but it doesn't matter that much.

The release of part five is an event for my comic, so it should be just fine if I say that it will be out soon. If I have misinterpreted this, I apologize. But in my defense, I'm not breaking any rules. I might say something about my comic, but I certainly have not posted my comic in this thread. Again, I'm not breaking any of the only two rules.

I can read just fine, and I've been finding myself to read that quite often these days. I also try my best to follow that too, which is why I'm not very excited about some of my posts that were deleted. For instance, the post I made in GoldStud's should not have been deleted. It was probably one of the longest posts with content in there, yet it was deleted. The last post I made in The Adventures of Mr. Fish and Penguin was, in my opinion, worthy of not being deleted.

By nature, I am a content writer. I've written quite a few content posts since I've been here. Don't expect a very long post every time I write though. A small paragraph should be just fine. What's more is that I've seen much shorter posts in the Ghetto lately that have escaped the Sickle of Death, which is extremely unfair to me. I usually make sure to have content in my post. The problem is probably that we don't know how much content we need to escape the Sickle of Death. I definately put effort into my posts. But the question is... Do we need specific guidelines to follow so that we know how much we need in a post? It appears to be that way, for I thought I was safe with my posts. What about the PM notice idea that I proposed earlier?

I'm not trying to start a fight. I'm just stating that I'm troubled (along with others) about recent happenings around here.

I really like your Link sprites, GoldStud! It must have taken a long time to make those.

Re: The Spriters Hangout V.4: All Spriters Welcome!

Those look alright, Solink. They might be good, but I can't truthfully say. I've never seen the movie.

Anyway, I made Sprites of Ashura:

You're probably wodnering who Ashura is. Well, he's a pallete glitch in Sonic 2 that lets you alter the coloring. Green body with a big, black, splotch:

He was named Ashura by many fans, and soon, Sonic n00bs thought he was an official character. I fixed it up by having a darker green and making the black splotch go over a spine.

The idea for the idea for the spiked hair came from this sheet at MFZ:

Re: The Spriters Hangout V.4: All Spriters Welcome!

I thought I'd post this here as well. I've seen some comics with horrible resizing.
When you resizing never use, gimp or Photoshop to resize, it blurs and ruins the sprite.
If you are, do it in paint.

And always resize to ratios (2x, 4x, 8x, 16x, etc) There for the sprite is in exact proportion, to the original.

Re: The Spriters Hangout V.4: All Spriters Welcome!

I like your recolor, Reign. I think that the foot swooshes for Sonic are really awesome looking. I want to learn how to do that.
I don't know about photoshop, but when you're resising, you should always times both numbers by 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or whatever so that it doesn't end up with overrepresented pixels and fatter or stretched sprites. That's what I do. Resising sprites is a really important thing to know how to do, because close ups and different zoom levels will make the difference between a boring bland comic and a good comic. People don't always think so because they see the idiot comics (which are my favorite) where the sprites get a whorrrible scaling job and look as good as a smashed pop can.

Re: The Spriters Hangout V.4: All Spriters Welcome!

Photoshop Tip #1: When resizing an image with free transform, hold the shift key at the same time. This way the image you are resizing will have the same symmetry as before, only larger (or smaller, depending how you wish to resize the image).

Also, I like the sprites in my comics to blur a bit when I resize them. Though some things look really bad that way (take what I did with Sonic for instance), others look very good in my opinion. I'm still working on harnessing the concept through trial and error, but I have proven successful on several occasions.

Well, i think i'm done. EVERY THING ON THERE BUT THE ORIGINAL BASES FOR LINK WAS CUSTOM.

I fixed up spin attack. The sprite with Link playing the ocarina does look a little..weird. I think that's it, let me know if i'm missing anything.

I had the same problem once. Just open up a new paint file, and put it in there and the colors SHOULD work.
EDIT=Wait, didn't this happen to you before? Coulda sworn you said something about backgrounds on my SC thread...

I have not had that problem so I have no opinion. But I think that if you used Paint Shop Pro and recolored it your problems whould be solved.
