[Showcase] The Iron Giant's Graphics

I'm always eager to share my work.

This was a short project I had going on, with the attempt to make a dull-looking picture look epic. I prefer to work in monochrome with my images, so you will likely see a lot of that in future pictures.



Potential avvy for me, with my gorgeous face. For those curious, that's a Slim Jim in my mouth.



This is a logo/sweatshirt design I made at the request of my friend for her culinary class. Eventually, it wasn't chosen to be the used design, but I like how this came together. Ironically, I think the sketch I made looks better than the finished product.



This is a logo that I designed while working as part of a group who wanted to make a fan game. I volunteered to help because I enjoyed the process of coming up with and sharing ideas, and also enjoyed the experience of designing for an audience. By no means professional, obviously.



Here's a quickie I've done, figured it would make a cool avatar if Knight Man were to be destroyed.



My entry for the Operation Moonfall cards that our friend Hombre plans to be handing out. I don't know if this one was chosen, but it was a fun effort.

Hey! Was wondering if maybe you could post the original image or a link to the original image so we could compare/see what you did in an attempt to get the desired "epic" effect?

Personally, I think you did a fairly good job in general. The lighting is nice and definitely lends itself to the "epic" feel. I do, however, think a bit more darkening of the shadows to further contrast with the almost heavenly light would push it just a bit farther. Maybe even just darkening the table(?) it's sitting on, but still keeping the edge of it indistinct so as not to detract from the book.

But that's just me, nice job! And good luck with the program!

Thanks! Yeah, that project was actually from a few months ago, and and lost the original image. More modern images, after my older ones, are sure to come.

Ack, I'm sorry about that.

In the drawing I've got, which is not very good with the font, the Triforce was smaller and the letters in Hyrule were lighter. I've got the font on my computer and typed out the logo in a document, so since I can't attach anything here, I'll reply to your PM and attack it there, if I can.

Better, but the top text should be at the far end of the E, like "The Legend of" is at that point in the Zelda logo.

Thats kind of an awkward placement. I can do it for you, but I really would suggest keeping the top text where it is. Do you like the size of the top text?

I like the size of the top text, and I really like the placement the way I have it, so here's an idea. Make the new one, and I'll pick the better one out of the comparison of the two.

Charlemagne is the font that is actually used in the actual "The Legend of" part of the Zelda logos. You could probably be better off using that.

And no, text placement is how it should be. PLEASE don't move it to the E, that'd be really awkward looking.

He already did that, and personally, because it was for me and it was my call as to which one would be used as the official logo for my book series, I chose which one looked better to me, and it was the one with the text placement at the E. On the Nintendo 64 box I have (yes, I still have it, and it's currently being used to keep my video game stuff from just gathering dust), the Ocarina of Time logo has the top text at the end of the top of the A. Look:

You can choose whatever you want, mate.

But I would like to point out that the OoT logo worked out because there was the image of the sword and shield filled up that gap.

Point conceded, but for the third book of my series, as it stands right now, will have two swords, both having taken on the design of the Master Sword with a few major differences, crossed, blades down, and that may work with the current logo by that point. I'm done for now.
