[Showcase] Cauldron of Souls

Ah... well, I decided to do this. So... here you go.

Any tips and criticism is appreciated, I am only a beginner. (I know- a lot of myself is stretched weirdly or something. Deal with it; I suck at resizing.)

I made this one for Noire one day. Yeah... it was just grey, black, and smudge. Not much else besides the star and the text. The text is off center, but I don't feel like fixing it at the moment.




I was just fooling around with an image, plasma cloud, and cartoon. Then this happened.




I used Amariel as a test subject. <3




Something requested by Doctor You. (My personal favorite.)




I was just fooling around with some effects... it's okay, I guess.




This one had potential, but I messed it up with resizing (as usual). Not really much I did to it, either.




I got bored.




Made this one for kicks.




I also used Scholar as a test subject. Didn't come out as I had planned it, though.





So uhh... yeah. Feedback is welcome, criticism is welcome... pretty much anything you have to say is welcome.

beginner? you're off to a great start. lots of bold moves, for sure, and i can't really offer better crit right now because you just need to practice practice practice.

except for the resizing thing: what program are you using? it looks as if you're making certain things (like this one here) on square-ish canvases and then squishing them into a sig size. try instead starting out with a sig-sized canvas and working from there.

and when you're using a scaling tool to drag your images to the right size, hold the shift key to constrain those crazy proportions!

Yep! Just a beginner. Practicing is what I'll keep on doing, though; I've made serious improvements, too.

I use GIMP, and that's exactly what's happening. Thanks for the tip, though; I think it'll help a lot. I hate resizing. xP

Just made this one as a request from my cousin.

I had a request from Golddron... it turned out to be interesting.

a request with 11 outcomes. that's a new one is this some sort of work-in-progress sequence? because there is a definite progression going down the line, with the last one being the one that i think is the best.

the white text suits it better than the red, the texture used on the first few is overbearing so i'm glad it was ditched on the last few, and there seemed to be some indecision regarding how to place the text, and the last one is where it all comes together. balance is key when putting lots of text on something, and you found the balance in the last one.

Actually, that's exactly what it is. The last is the end product. :>

Mostly due to Golddron, actually. I think it was a great lesson on text placement, though- which I'm happy about. I agree with you, though... the texture in the first one was overbearing, and made it like bad. T_T

This is cool. Reminds me of the background graffiti of the urban artist Tom Lewis. Bright and bold and full of quirks.

Kay, two problems:

1.) Can't read the text.

2.) The character's render should be feathered. I really don't like the jagged feel it has presently. :<

Other than that, it looks good! Great job. :3
