I noticed how some YouTube videos are now in 3D. I looked at how it worked and figured I'd try something: a 3D sprite animation. Because it's made out of 2D sprites, it will look more like a diorama than a 3D animation, but it's 3D. Maybe one day, people will make 3D sprites.
I apologize for the quality. I still don't have a good animation program (or a good paint program because Macs are stupid). Anyway, to view it, cross your eyes until the two images meet in the middle.
It's not difficult to make, but it requires some effort and time.
Step 1: Think of what you want to see in 2D. If there's a specific formation involved, go to step 2. If not (like the one above), just place everything how you normally would and skip to step 3.
Step 2: If there's a specific formation involved, anyone in the front should be shifted to the left a few pixels. The more you shift, the further to the front it will appear. I'll explain in the next step.
Step 3: Take the exact same panel on the right, with a few pixels shifted over to the right. The farther to the right you set, the greater the 3D effect. For example, in the above animation (comparing the right frame to the left), I have the background still, Omochao shifted over 3 pixels, Ganondorf 4, and the ground 6. Repeat for each frame.
Step 4: This is optional, but you might want to double the size. It makes it easier to focus and sometimes, the image appears smaller because you're viewing it cross-eyed. However, you don't have to. It will look just fine if you don't double the size.
