Had a hard time finding renders with similar textures that would fill the space in a way I liked...one idea that I just came up with would be to cut up a large render and use different pieces of it together--it would certainly match if I'm only using different parts of one render.

I think it almost looks better without the first one, even though that leaves some open space.

Oh wow I LOVE it!!! It uses a lot of good space, beautiful matching colors, lots of depth, oh good job! One of your best yet. ^_^

Nothing comes to mind to fix to be honest.


EDIT: I just found out the SOTW theme is abstract, like my assignment. So try to make something to post in the contest! Ja-kun, you should post this one.

My computer is back up and running, and on top of that, I've upgraded from Photoshop CS to CS3. I still have some work to do and post, so this place shouldn't be dead any time soon :>

I have no idea how I'm supposed to make these C4Ds look good, but here's my result:



I feel like I've cheated since two of the images I used were kind of matching. 1 2 3. It... just looks like a c4d.

EDIT: Here's my SotW. It's much better than when I could just use c4d's.



EDIT2: And here was an idea that I didn't finish because I couldn't find anywhere to go with it.

Sugar, I would've loved to enter that one in the SotW but you're supposed to make things new for it and I wouldn't feel right using something I'd already posted. So I made something new.

Both of those look pretty awesome. GKANG, maybe you could make it look less like one c4d if you changed the hue of each of them instead of making them all the same bluish? Like different shades, or maybe even more contrasting colors. Worth a shot.

Wow, I love the first two. Very nice. The second one more of my favorite. And C4D's already look good, its your job to use them to make your sig look good. And you did a good job on the first one. ^_^

On the last one, I wouldn't blur the sides out. I know you were going for a 3d feel, but maybe instead keeping it all normal and adding a few small effects like splatter brush or something around it. VERY nice job.

Hehehe sure! I'd love to help you. Which program do you use, GIMP? The first tutorial uses Actions, and those are sort of for PS, but if you know how to get them in your program, go ahead. If not, pick any assignment you want.

Well, I use a program that you have probably never heard of called Paint.NET Anyway, ill do some assignments now

I only work with photoshop. I don't know any other programs.

Ok, new assignment is up folks! (pardon the double post)

This assignment was a challenge because I suck with the pentool. I had a really hard time doing my name in this:



But experimenting with it led to some fun stuff. I made this and a tutorial.

Wow, I'm really impressed! Your tutorial was amazing and I love the patterns and stuff you've discovered. I'd say you get a solid A on this assignment! hehe

I dont s'pose this is sa homeroom where people can learn how to get good at drawing with a tablet?

I dunno. The way I learned was just practicing on my own. It just takes practice that's all. Not sure what I would do to help.

Well, here I am finally uploading the signature. You're right, this task was simple. I haven't done many simple things, so this did broaden my horizons. It really can't get more simple than this, but I do know about actions now, and I feel I learned something new about photoshop, which was the point of the assignment, luckily.



Woot and whatnot. Probably could have added a border, but decided against it.
