Re: Hyrule's Homeroom [GIMP]

Second sig tutorial done (I didn't follow it exactly because of the differences between Gimp and Gimpshop, and I skipped the final pixelize step because everything turned out ugly for me).

Very nice. :3

Render has pretty good flow though I'm not liking how to the right it is. ALSO, GUYS, REMEMBER THERE ARE OTHER COLORS. Do experiment with fractals and C4Ds as backgrounds/effects though.

Of course. :3

Everything looks fine when compared to the tutorials.

I really do wish that you guys had used more color on the abstracts small piece though. If you're having trouble with that bit just tell me.

Effects look great, even if somewhat whored (tutorials fault, I would say). Also, awesome choice for a render.

Much better. Just remember that with dimensions you don't have to go with big-as-possible every time. Don't be afraid to try different heights and widths. Eventually you'll find something that suits you.

I'm going to edit this post with tutorials and whatnot later...

1st tutorial- I didnt like it. It was hard to follow, and it said there would be links to the C4Ds, but there werent. and it wasnt specific about what gradient maps to use... and I dont like my outcome.

Re: Hyrule's Homeroom [GIMP]

I followed the first tutorial posted for Steve and Rajin.

Pretty neat one, I learned a lot, and branched off from the tut a lot. I ended up with 3 different versions that I liked. This one was after following the tut completely and forgoing the light source, I thought it wouldn't look good with so much of the focus in the dark. I think I used like 8 c4ds also, so a few to many effects in my opinion, but still the most involved picture I have produced in my 3 days of Gimp.

Re: Hyrule's Homeroom [GIMP]

1st: I didn't like this tutorial, the writer was very vague so I pretty much did my own thing for several parts. I think I picked a bad render, it didn't have much color in it, so the final result looks pretty bland.

Ugh, I hate this sig.

Tried another one of the tutorials in the Steve/Rajin list. Pretty neat one, a lot of work for the final result, but nice to be able to make something like that without relying entirely on a c4d

Re: Hyrule's Homeroom [GIMP]

2nd tut: I liked this one more, My pen tooling was kind of bad, and the Gaussian Blur didn't make it look like it did in the tut. Oh well.

I made two version, one with a "bite" in it, and one without.

I suggest using the Paths tool, then strock line or whatever, then just erasing the parts you dont want

Do the first one again until you find a result you like better.

Second one is good, but add another gradient-thing that's tilted slightly to try and add more flow, because that pretty much dies when you go right.

Third one looks great.

This is a great piece to have done using GIMP for only three days. Because I'm picky, I'd say cut off some height and capture the center a little more. Secondly, I'd say add a bit of color (purple, strawberry maybe?) to spice things up. Use the brush tool (though I prefer gradient set to blend into transparency; maybe on radial mode) on a new layer and set the mode to color/hue/overlay and play with the opacity.

Very very nice. I'd say move Chief up a little and fix up those circle-scanline-whatevers on the bottom to his left. They go outside of the canvas and look odd in general.

This one needs some work. I'd say dump the text and try it again, as it looks a little messy in general. Nice job though.

This one looks a bit odd. I'd say use the paths tool instead of the brush tool for those lines, otherwise this one is pretty meh.

I'll need to dig around in my tutorials bookmark folder for a bit, but I'll be back!
