My number one goal with this homeroom
is to help you learn how to create signatures and
web banners using Photoshop. I'll also help introduce
you to some basic tools you'll need to be successful
in photoshop. In order for me to teach you, you
need to be at least familiar with Photoshop (7.0 or higher).

+ How well do you know Photoshop?

+ How long have you been using it?

+ Do you have any previous works you are willing to share? (Please provide some)

Once you are added to the list of students, you can start working on the first assignment.

Find one you'd feel comfortable using. The GIMP tuts are mixed in there, you just have to look. Sometimes tuts can work for both GIMP and Photoshop.

||Assignments||

Assignment #1.

Your first assignment will be sort of a tester, for me to see how well you can do simple signatures, so this one is very open and you can show of your creativity any way you choose.

Size: 350 x 120
Render: this (I figured with Brawl just around the corner, this would be good.) :XD
No text please.
1 pixel border.

And don't worry, I'll be doing assignments too. ^_^

And this goes for every assignment you do, you must save it and keep it so you can go back and edit it later. Save it as a .psd.

You will be required to go back and revise your signatures.

Assignment #2.

Alrighty, round 2! This time I want you guys to get used to working with tutorials. I'll list a few that you can choose from, they are pretty easy, step by step, for both Photoshop and GIMP users. Feel free to PM me questions. Pick 1 tutorial and stick with it.

Size: Just do whatever the tutorial tells you to do. But remember, keep it under 400 x 150.

Here are the renders I would like you to use. Make sure you pick one that will work well with the tutorial you choose.

Assignment #3.

I want you to visit this thread. http://www.zeldauniverse.net/forums/...resources.html Use the links and look around, collect many things into your sig library, make a folder or something. Then I want you to choose 3 times from each and put them in your sig for your assignment.

You have to have a stock and a C4D. (Note: A stock is different then a render. Renders are cut out, stocks have backgrounds with them.)

You have to use both of these in your assignment, make it 400 x 150. You have complete freedom on this assignment, use any combination of C4D and stock you would like. You can even add simple effects such as clipping masks, gradients, soft brush lighting, etc.

You don't have to use a tutorial for the whole sig, but many of you don't know how to use a C4D at all, so this tutorial will show you (courtesy of Cobra).

Assignment #4.

Well it's been a while, but here it is! This one is a freebee, just so I can see your creativity. Here is the stock I require you to use: CLICKY

As you know, stocks are harder to use, but that's what makes good practice. Feel free to do whatever you wish; C4D, tutorials, etc. (points to resources on first post)

Size: 400x125
Go wild, do whatever you wish. ^_^

P.S. Also, part of your assignment is to recruit more students!

Assignment #5.

Alrighty, I've been thinking about the next one, so I decided its time to work on vector sigs. Using only vector brushes, no C4Ds or any other brushes, make a signature using these fine little dandy thingies.

Go to deviantart.com and search "vector brushes", download a bunch to use for your assignment (make sure you download the correct brushes for GIMP or PS).

Here is an example of what vector brushes are. ^_^

Remember to use lots of colors, gradients and lighting (that is the only other brush you can use, soft brushes for lighting).

Make a sig, 375 x 120. We'll keep it small. Put a border on it. NO OTHER IMAGES ALLOWED. This is only brush work.

My dad will not let me use his/my money on ''a stupid sig/avy maker'' so for now I have to stick with sucky-free sig makers.

1/2)In have a photoshop account and been using it for about two-three months.
3)I never made a sig for anyone only really because I want people to have cool, unsucky, full of design and uncheap sigs. I have some but they are all drafts.

I would love to join the classroom of the one and only sugarpoulty.

I will see if I can do the first assignment, oh queen of sigs.

You can use GIMP of course. Its just as good as photoshop. Just play around and experiment with it. Especially use tutorials for it.

I'd be more than happy to have you as my student. ^_^ *added*

Well, first off, you don't need to fit Samus all the way into the sig. She looks disproportionate, and its ok if her legs or whatever are cut off.

I'm loving the blending and the colors, although they are a bit choppy, it can be smoothed out more. Also, there is no lighting anywhere. Notice there is light reflecting on top of her suit? There needs to be a light source coming from above her.

Parts of the background are very pixilated, so I'd blend those over.

Not bad though! Use my suggestions and post it again. ^_^

I've just joined this classroom (woot) and I've finished the first assignment. I only have one thing to say before I post it, I think it would look better with text in the upper-righthand corner. I think I did a pretty good job
