Pani's homeroom

The purpose of this class is to teach a few different techniques available in sig and graphics making, so a previous knowledge of the program you are using is required. I use Photoshop 7.0, but with the way the class is run, as long as what you're using isn't TOO different, you should be fine. :3

If you'd like to join up to this class, please help me a bit by answering these few questions.

1. What program/s do you use to make graphics with?
2. How long have you used them, and how confident are you in using them?

+ Assignments +

1st assignment - take this image and make a 380x100 sig from it. No brushes or other renders, only this image and whatever comes with your program. Filters, hue, saturation, brightness/contrast, stuff like that. Include a border too, and you can use transparency if you want. :3 Post here when you're finished.

*NEW*
2nd assignment - take this render from Planet Renders (note - you will need an account to download full-size images from Planet Renders. If this causes a problem for anyone, post here or PM me and I'll upload it for you on Imageshack or Photobucket) and make a bright-themed sig out of it. Use 380x100 dimensions again, and don't overdo the filters. Make use of the image alteration things, like brightness and contrast, curves, levels, saturation, lightness, all that stuff. Move it around if you need to, and you can use any other images as long as you include a link to them with your post. :3 Save the .psd or whatever your program uses (keep the layers intact) so that you can make adjustments to it after I critique it. :3 Good luck!

Okay, I have The GIMP, and Photoshop somewhere.

I've been using GIMP since early June, er... 5 months? And as for Photoshop, I touched it once, and it confused me...

Well, I use this program called Photoplus. I'm decent with it I guess. Mediocre.

I guess I could try and get Photoshop, since it seems that would make everything easier.

Here's the sig:

1. I use Photoshop CS2
2. I don't remember how long I've been using it, maybe a year or something. I used to have PS7. I'm pretty confident in all the basic things, but seeing everyones awesome sigs in the contest area I realised mine are quite basic



I hope the border shows on this, borders never seem to show on things I do

For the first assignment, if you're more confident in GIMP, then use that. If at some point you decide to start with Photoshop, it might be a good idea to look at some simple tutorials to get a basic understanding, and then switch to using Photoshop in the assignments.

(what version of Photoshop is it?).

Okay, I've swapped Gerard to the left and changed the font what do you think?

I think she teaches more specifically Photshop...

Anywho, try using the Magic Wand Tool. PM me if you're having trouble with that.

Well, I guess I'll apply for this homeroom. I haven't been a student in one ever since the beginning of time (Literally).

1.) I use TheGIMP in making my sigs. It's not too different from Photoshop, so I guess it's still appropriate for this homeroom.

2.) I've been using TheGIMP for around 3-4 months. I'm quite confident in using it, but I get a little less confident when I look at all the awesome sigs around this forum.

Hmm. I have like 4 months or something with Gimp. I'm confident at using it, but when I compare my sigs to others, they look bad.

Can I join this homeroom?

I use Photoshop CS2, and have for about 2 years. I'm not really confident, but at the moment I've been happily using what I know (Polygonal lasso, Standard brush, pencil, eraser, gradient, fill, blur, smudge, sharpen, various filters, the "Hue/Saturation" thing in the image menu)

Here's the first assignment. I didn't save it as psd, but I only used one layer anyway. I do have a save of it from before I made it green however.

Alrighty, guess I'll give this homeroom thing a go. I'm not all the active due to my job but the time I get to myself during the week I have nothing to do so load me up.

1. We have PS CS3 here, ordered it myself.

2. I've used it on and off for about 6 years, obviously not just PS CS3 but up the chain as time went by. Um, not much for the signatures but will do if you say to.

2. About 1/2 a year. I'm very confident in using it, I've already learned how to use it fluently, but I haven't learned everything.

Here's what I wrote earlier, only slightly changed to fit my current knowledge.

I use Photoshop CS2 on my dad's computer (which I'm on more frequently), and Photoshop Elements 5.0 on my laptop (which I prefer to use my laptop, as it's MIIIIIINE :3). I've been using CS2 for about 2 and a half years, but PSE-5 for only a couple of months.
