So... how exactly do I use it? To make all the layers appear blended, I mean....

I think Loffle covered blending here by just asking to lower the opacity. SO I would do that. Pick two patterns (or more, your choice) And lower the top one's opacity until you're satisfied.

There's no border on it because when I tried filling in the selection (like it said) it wouldn't let me fill in the border. Instead, it filled in the entire picture except the border

Mm, looks nice. I'm liking the background and colors. As for your border problem, I'd use Selection>All and then Edit>Stroke Selection .

I realized why the border thing wasn't working - I accidentally hit Invert twice

Beautiful, though I'd use a lager render next time, the left side's too empty (though adding text may help with that).

The text keeps blending into the background when I try to set the opacity too low. If I set it too high, I can't see the image. :/

But, I'm happy with myself. I even decided to use a blend for the border.

That's very good for a first attempt. I especially like that border you've made for the sig. As for your text problem, I'd make the text white and lower the opacity to about 50%. Let's see if that'll help.

Yes, Loffle did an outstanding job with this tutorial. Personally, I had no idea how to use The GIMP when I started, and this was a great help with helping me get an idea of what layers and the basics were.

How do you get a fire effect???I don't have it!!!

It doesn't come packed with GIMP. I'd try searching for it on Google.

Also, How do you do Freetype? I know how to make signature pictures, but I don't know how to do freetype!?

Yup. In the tutorial (the one with link) it said Filters > Text > Freetype. I only want to know hot to get freetype.

Yeah, this tutorial is two years old, and applies to an older version of GIMP. Freetype is the same thing as using the text tool (The 'A' on the toolbar I believe).

If you want to learn more about GIMP I'd consider joining a graphics homeroom or looking up some more tutorials on the net.

It's the same version of gimp I have. And I can do many things on it.
