Anyways, I be back. And apparently the banner isn't quite finished yet. So who do we have that's dead?

Raine - When you say "So hes not gonna be here anymore." does that mean we're never seeing Ethan again? Or that he just couldn't do the assignment? Or is he gone from the site forever?

exidid - "Windy will no longer be here" means what exactly? Can people please actually stop by here and tell me directly if they plan to disappear? Playing messenger gets really really really annoying.

Also, can't help but wonder, but what's with the double and triple posting? Are you guys unable to edit posts, or were you just bumping the thread to get attention?

Anyways, now we get a wonderfully long post because you all were kind enough to keep posting stuff here... -_- Let's see if we can finish this in an hour.

exidid - Um... Let's start with the Zelda one you had posted after explaining how to fit pictures in letters. None of the Princesses really seem to go well with each other. Or course, that's basically unavoidable. So now let's see what we see. For gameboy Zelda (or whichever system the sprite was from) making it bigger doesn't really look all that great, simply because sprites are meant to be small. Or course, it'd be equally awkward to leave it small among all the big Zeldas. The one next to the sprite looks kinda blurry, so consider searching longer for clear pictures. If the picture you start with is bad, chances are that the final product won't be all that wonderful either. The one next to it is simply a horrible picture. If I were shown that picture alone, I doubt I would have figured out that it was a person at first. Then you have WW Zelda next to the blur. WW Zelda seems to be the focus point of it all. She just stands out so much with her own unique style that it draws attention away from the others. The next one looks fine. The one next to it looks alittle strange in a blue dress, but I suppose it'd take forever to recolor it in Paint. Next to the one in the blue dress it a picture which I'm assuming had a few spots that were actually white. Do you see the dark speckles in some of the lighter parts of the picture? If dark is coming through, the best thing to do is either go along with the paintbrush and fix it up spot by spot or simply draw a box around the picture and paint it neon green or something like that so that white is no longer the background color and therefore no longer the color that turns invisible. The next Zelda seem too far back and is hidden behind an ear. It might help to tell all the Princess to take a big step to the right so that the spacing might be better. No comments on the next Zelda, but then next to that Zelda there are little bits of white. I'd guess that these spots came from cutting out the picture from a white background. Of course, most things with a white background don't really have a white background. Usually a bit of it is an off-white color from goofs that happen with uploading or saving. see the little spots? Or course, the easy fix for that is simply to paint those spots pink because they're on a solid background. For the font, it looks like you wrote it. Good job. Paint a pretty hard program to write neatly in. Wow, I just noticed that everything on your computer is in Spanish... I think. Anyways, the Z in Zelda looks odd. Of course, that's probably because I like parallel lines. Anyways, it looks as if it's been bent out of shape. And now we turn towards the border. I spy with my little eye 4 red lines. Of course, they don't line up well. If you play a game of connect the dots using the line tool you'll find that on the sides the left side is two or three pixels lower then the right. And top and bottom are far from being across from each other. And here's where I run out of little things to mention.

And staring at yellow hurts my eyes. Anyways, I see alot of checkerboard patterns in it. Remember, if you're wanting to overlay stuff you should make both the images bigger, THEN put on the small sized pattern, and then reshrink it in Word. Remember? Anyways, nice border on the first one.

For the Warlords Battlecry one, it's hard to see if the color matches the background right now (the skin quick change thing went poof) but mostly it looks great. The one thing I'm noticing is around the LEC with bits or a light color, which shows that it wasn't cut out all that well.

Moving on to the Wii cover, the only thing I'd mention is that for future Zelda games I seriously doubt they'll use the graphics from the old games. Around the title thingy, I see you had the shadows of two faces. The faces are a pretty neat idea. However, it's a checkerboard pattern again. It'd look nicer and more complete with black overlayed onto it instead. Other then that, I'd think it'd be fun to send something like that to Nintendo and ask then to use it as cover art for the next game. ^^

For the next one... Eh, nothing bad really sticks out. That's a good thing. I see you've tried doing something new with the borders, so that's nice to see. Creativity and trying new things is the way to find out fun stuff to do.

For the one with Sheik, the border isn't even. Of course, it doesn't look bad, so I don't really see a problem with it. I see about three or four little spots around her neck though, which is probably again with a white background and white parts of the picture. The background shows through, and it makes the picture look icky. There's also a dark spot up near the top of her head. The font is a bad color. Bright red rarely looks good on anything, unless there's a theme of fire. A common mistake is trying to make the font be the focus point of it all. Of course, that's not too much of a problem if the font is lovely and shiny and pretty and all that, but when it's simple, solid, straight font it doesn't work well as a centerpiece. Try making the font blend in more, or at least give it colors that go well with the background. Or, eliminate all problems of color choice and simply overlay black letters onto it.

For the DS game cover, the only thing I notice is the circles. See how there are a few odd spots near the left side? There's also a few red specks above Link's head. Nice job on the letters though. Also, when doing covers, try to find clear pictures. WiFi and Nintendo look blurred.

And now that I'm falling asleep I can't think enough to figure out what I meant to say at the end when I started typing this.

Right. Figure out which letters are still missing from the banner. Then fill them in. After all the letters are up we'll move onto the next steps for the banner.



Also, who's officially not following this thread anymore? HG is the only one who's officially gone. Windy and Ethan, are you two both dead now?

Anyways, take your time on the letters. I won't rush you. And I'm probably supposed to be figuring out stupid ImageShack right now... Oh well. So now we're down to three and a half students.

Happier? I'd be much happier if I could acutaly do something in this class! I've made some very ugly sigs. I've tried overlaying, reading the tutor 5 times, and got it all wrong. I've tried my best Miss Dog Dog, but...I can't do a thing. I'd love to stay to...but I can't do anything but make simple, ugly sigs.

Windy, simple isn't ugly. Besides, it was mean of me to throw that overlaying thing at you guys when you were all just beginning to learn. Besides, when I started out absolutely everything I made was horrible.

See? And that's only stuff that I made AFTER I figured out how to upload stuff onto Photobucket. *sigh* I remember a time when I say SD's avatar and thought the max size for an avy was 123x123...

Now look back at all the failed things I did back then. See all the clashing colors? Making font red thinking it should be the centerpiece? Matching colors that clash? Borderless, saved the wrong way, overall ugly and bad. Honestly, it does take a while to get used to using any program, and Paint is no exception. I'd say don't give up. Even if when you start out all you can make is horrible stuff, keep at it and you'll get better!

See, with anything you have to start out simple. Even in Zelda games, you start out with weak enemies and easier guided puzzles. It's the same with everything else. You start out simple, then slowly add more and more as stuff gets better and better. No one starts out as being perfect. Everyone's bad when they start trying something new.

Windy, if you want to stay then stay you shall. And the stuff I posted above really isn't any better then some of the stuff I've seen you do. Just because you don't think you're good at something doesn't mean you should give up. If you want to stay then you're still in this class. ^^

I've worked with Paint.NET once or twice before, never really liked it much though. I think Ali (HiddenCorner, InsaneMurdur or whatever she calls herself) used to use it alot. From what I remember Paint.net was alittle bit like Photoshop, but I didn't bother to use it so I truthfully can't help you out with it. The reason I only teach MSPaint is because I'm still learning to work the other programs.
